(B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
Intro pulled from messages and barely edited.
~230 ABY on a minor planet. Both Jedi Knights, Adrian Lynd and Arty Orspach are on a mission together along with two Padawans: Adrian's student Nomi, and Arty's son Julian. They encounter a difficult lock that can’t be cut.
“...We could try the combination again,” Arty said with a sigh.
Adrian rolled his eyes. “Because it worked so well the last six times we tried it.”
Nomi: “We could short circuit it?”
Julian: “That makes sense, but how?”
Arty scratched his chin “We can’t get behind the panel and jam some metal in there. One it’s too risky, but two we can’t get behind the panel.”
Adrian: “Maybe you should have led with that Arty…”
Arty: “Be serious. We need a strong powerful burst of electricity. But where are we going to….” Arty cocked his head, looking at Adrian
Julian looked at Adrian.
Nomi looked at Adrian.
Adrian raised both eyebrows “WHAT?! Why are you all looking at me…. Wait! NO NO NO!
Arty: “It’s the only way.”
Adrian: “No! That is an inherently Dark sided force power. I am a Jedi Knight. Using that goes against everything I have worked for... and who says I know how to do it anyway?”
Arty: “You’re telling me that Adrian Lynd, once one of the most feared and respected young Siths in the galaxy didn’t learn how to use force lightning?”
Adrian narrowed his eyebrows at Arty. “I am a Jedi.”
Julian snickered and whispered to Nomi “He’s mad.”
Adrian glared. “I heard that.”
Arty: “You know you know how, and everyone standing here knows you know how. Just do it.”
Adrian: “Oh kriffing fine! But none of you breathes a word of this to anyone. There is no way to do this without using the Dark side and that’s not me anymore! But yeah... it’s not hard. Just give me a damn minute.”
Closing his eyes, Adrian tapped deep down into the recesses of his soul. Memories of his youth danced in front of his eyes. He had learned to forgive those who had wronged him, but in this moment he needed the anger and the hatred. He thought about that day Svo’k had turned his back on him. Focused on the feelings he felt that day, he shifted his mind into that of his twelve year old self and he felt a swirl of darkness rise up to envelope him. It made him sick to his stomach.
Arty watched and motioned for the two younger Jedi to stand back. Quietly taking out his lightsaber, he held it in front of him while leaving the blade deactivated. He had grown to trust Adrian, but this felt… nothing like Adrian.
Adrian’s breaths became sharper. “Don’t look at me,” he said before he opened his eyes, now glowing red. He raised both hands and powerful blue lightning crackled from his fingertips. The energy hit the panel for the lock with explosive force. The circuits fried and there were brilliant sparks as the door slid open. The Jedi knight lowered and his hands and stood there, motionless.
Arty carefully approached Adrian from behind and placed his hand on his shoulder. “You okay?”
Adrian turned to look at Arty, his eyes still glowing red and his face stained with tears. “Don’t you ever ask me to do that again.”
Arty nodded silently. He held up his free hand, making sure Julian and Nomi stayed back. “We did what we needed to do Adrian, but I won’t ask again. And I’ll talk to them.”
Adrian nodded. “We have time. Give me a few minutes and take them away. I can’t be seen like this.”
Arty nodded and took the two young Jedi a decent distance away.
Once out of earshot. Adrian fell dropped to the ground and openly wept. He felt sick to his stomach and horrified that he still possessed this evil power and could wield it at will. Slowly, he drifted into meditation and the darkness left him. His eyes slowly faded back to their natural blue. He took a deep breath in and stood up. Snorting, he cleared his throat.
“Come on!” He yelled to the group.

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
The black-haired eleven year old had not been appreciative when Arty made her stand behind him and wait next to Julian, but she still followed directions obviously. Arty’s shift in bearing and his hold on his lightsaber hilt made her her palms itch while she frowned past him at Adrian… who was not looking or feeling so good. This probably hadn’t been the greatest solution.
‘Don’t look at me.’
Nomi snorted, though she kept it pretty much silent. Too late for that, Master.
He—really—looked bad though. Angry, Sith, and like it sucked. Or like he was about to Lightning fry Julian’s dad instead of the lock. Her eyes slid to Julian for a second to check how he was doing, but he was pretty much on his own because she was more worried about Adrian. He got the lock plate obliterated—So, that was good.
Arty made them take a walk, but the moment stayed with her for the rest of the day. Even if it did get pretty exciting.
Eleven hours later after they’d finished patching up the cut on Julian’s arm and settled in the tiny inn that the locals gave them for the night, she tapped twice on Adrian’s door and let herself in while Julian and Arty were occupied finding dinner, or taking showers or something.
“I’m sorry earlier. You were mad and looked really…. bad. I didn’t think it was gonna go like that. You’re okay again?”

Adrian:
Adrian had spent most of the evening meditating and centering himself again. He had hated the way the it made him feel, but he recognized in the moment and absolutely remembered how addictive it was.
He heard the taps on his door and smirked. He opened the door to see his Padawan standing there.
“Pfft. What are you apologizing for? The door needed opened. We had to get in and there wasn’t much of a choice. I’m sorry you had to see me like that and yes it was bad. It took me the rest of the day to get totally right again, which is why the dark side is so dangerous. I am fine. It wasn’t fun, but I am fine. Thank you for checking on me”
He smirked at her.
“What did you think about how Master Orspach described me as one of the most feared young Sith in the galaxy? How’d that make you feel with what you saw?”

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
He seemed like his normal self again now. Or at least he wasn't faking much if he wasn’t. There had been something sharp about him all day; like the way someone reacted when they were tired and hurt from anything stupid, and mad about it, but holding it together because — Jedi.
Feeling better after his smirk, the lean Panathan girl sat on the floor. She rolled her neck and shoulders before she started stretching.
“Master Arty said it to Dun Moch you into doing it. But then you did it and he stopped trusting you. You got very… hating and angry. And faster.”
Nomi glanced at Adrian, then went back to working with her hands and feet so that neither of them had to think about whatever expressions were on their faces. Not that it mattered; Adrian could watch hers if he wanted. She was a little serious, but she was fine. It had been a weird day.
“I was fine. If you were going to try stabbing anyone it was going to be Master Arty when you wanted to cut his other hand off… and you’re Jedi. I think snapping like that would have triggered you into stopping. It got weird when Master Arty wasn’t confident anymore. I felt like that was weird for Julian. And me.”
She put more intensity into her movements without looking up, the eleven year old’s shoulders shaking a little.
“It was easier to imagine how... that you grew up doing so much hurting and killing than the other times we talked about it. A lot easier. With what Master Arty said, it made me feel… like.. you shouldn’t be alive. — I don't mean now, or when you got here. Just…. you SHOULD have been killed before that. People and Jedi died because you just got worse. But I’m glad you weren’t.. Please keep teaching me enough so I don’t die when I have to kill more of you.”

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
Adrian:
Adrian intently listened to her taking in her thought and emotions on the matter. They hadn’t been together long, but they had been together long enough to know each other quite well. He nodded at a few of her thoughts but the most poignant was that he should be dead.
He couldn’t help but feel an odd sense of pride that he wasn’t. That was a weird thought that he’d have to process later.
“Arty realized he made a stupid mistake. Even Knights do the way wrong things sometimes. He was right to not trust me. I didn’t trust me. You know how spice addicts quit and get better for a time and then relapse and die? I hadn’t dealt with those emotions and forced myself into that state of mind in a very long time. Arty has no idea how close he came to getting zapped, and if we’re being honest between the two of us, he deserved it. What saved him was Julian being there and of course you’re my Padawan. I couldn’t do that in front of you. It’s not right, but I barely had control.”
He took on a bit more of a serious tone.
“Nomi, they tried to kill me. Most of my operations were way off the grid by the time Luka met me. I had different aliases and multiple things going on. They didn’t know who they were hunting. They did send a knight after the anonymous Sith that was me when I was sixteen. He almost had me, but he was dumb and he lost. I don’t say that lightly. He wounded me, but I deceived him into thinking I was more hurt than I was and he got cocky.”
He looked directly at her.
“I will teach you everything you need, but a true Sith like i was will never show you their full power until it’s too late. ALWAYS assume they are much stronger than they appear and then assume more. And yes, I absolutely deserved to die for what I did. I am grateful, but I did deserve to die….. but blessing or curse, I was simply too good and was only getting better.”

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
Nomi raised her dark brown eyes to meet the older Jedi’s blue ones. She straightened up to sit in a more respectful pose, hands calm in her lap though never too far from her lightsabers.
“Then, we should have tried better and maybe another Jedi—” The Padawan girl dropped her stare enough to glance at her master’s arms and hands that were so good at knives, lightsabers, lightning. She gave him a small shrug and looked searchingly back at his face in case she did something worse than she thought. She thought she knew him enough to feel secure about anything they talked about; but Adrian had had a really hard day.
“—or few would still be alive. People knew you were a problem before whatever aliases you used. Your dad or my mom knew you were getting stronger and worse. Other people did too, and they just..... waited? Even Master Luka... knew quickly that you were very bad. Right? From the day Master Luka knew who you were, until when you came to the Jedi… it couldn’t just be all better? Did you do... more things in between that we should have stopped, Master?”

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
Adrian:
He sat there and digested her words slowly. He allowed his face to hide nothing, her comments perhaps weren’t meant to be venomous but a few of them did pack a bit of a punch. He watched her eyes look at his hands and he felt he could almost read her thoughts. He sighed
“A truly innocent person never died by my hand, not once I was past the age of reason. Jedi? Sure. Other Sith? More than I can count. Assorted cohorts that were engaged in nefarious activities and crossed me? Yes. Did I do these after Luka? Not so much, I was focused on turning him. That clearly worked….”
He took a knife from his belt and handed it to her.
“I was blindingly fast with these. Your mother and Luka never really knew who or what exactly they were dealing with. I think she had more of an idea when I was sixteen of what I was becoming.”
He turned his head to the side.
“The past is the past. I can’t undo it and there are parts of it I wouldn’t undo if I could. I am a good swordsman, only now I use that ability for good. So maybe there was a point to that somewhere.”
His face turned serious.
“Lets talk about today. I failed you. I should have let you see me, I didn’t want you to see the red eyes or any of what the dark side did to me. Arty came up to me and I had already been crying, my stomach burned as if i had swallowed molten metal and i felt like gagging. I turned to him, i could feel the darkness sticking to my soul trying to latch on and i told him never to ask me to do that again. I had to seriously hurt myself to do what I did Nomi and it wasn’t pretty. I stood there and actively forced my brain to revert the rage i had when i was a year older than you. Then i had to focus on that pain and welcome the Darkside into my soul. It was absolutely awful. I sent you all away so you wouldn’t see me as I collapsed to the ground and gagged from it. So you wouldn’t see me as weak.
Then I had to fight it off and expel it from me. Which took a lot of effort and energy because it latches onto you, the power is intoxicating, but just like spice or alcohol it hurts you and turns you into something you are not. Was I good at being a Sith? Extremely. Had I survived and continued that path I would have been a name not forgotten by history. But I wouldn’t be me. I’d be an evil disgusting monster that deserved whatever awful fate awaited me.”
He blinked and tried to smirk.
“I hated myself today. Most of all I hated that I could still do it and that you saw it. It was the Jedi in me that wanted to give Arty a little zap, not the long dead Sith. I love him like a brother just like you and Julian, but every once in awhile a stiff shot from a friend is necessary when one has done something stupid.”

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
The tanned eleven year old took Adrian’s blade and gently tested the edge; careful not to slice herself. Eventually she spun the the knife methodically around her fingers. Sometimes she watched her hands, sometimes his face. They were talking about difficult things. It was easier to think and hear him if she kept her hands moving.
She’d had a weapon in her hand or on her belt since before she was responsible for herself, too. But the adults who gave her the tools and the muscle memory didn’t put her in a position to kill anyone.
’Let’s talk about today.’
She sighed inwardly, but looked up when her master shifted to the serious tone that teachers had when they wanted her to understand why something she’d done hadn’t been the best choice. She’d thought she was being as respectful as she could about talking privately, but she already knew she’d been blunt and asking about uncomfortable things.
’I failed you. I should have let you see me. I didn’t want you to see the red eyes or what the Dark Side did to me…’
Nomi raised an eyebrow, dark eyes watching Adrian intently. The small knife slowed in her hands.
’…sent you all away so you wouldn’t see me while I collapsed to the ground and gagged from it. So you wouldn’t see me as weak. Then I had to fight it off and expel it from me. Which took a lot of effort and energy because it latches onto you, the power is intoxicating, but just like spice or alcohol it hurts you and turns you into something you are not. ‘
She set the knife on her lap and rolled her neck, stretching her shoulders before they had any chance to get stiff.
By the time Adrian stopped and found her a thin smirk, she got up and handed him the blade back.
“It still makes sense why you did it. Thank you for telling me a lot more, Master Adrian.”

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
Adrian:
A breath of stale air from the in crept it’s way into his lungs as he had watched his Padawan. A smile formed as he nodded.
“You’re welcome. Hmmm. I wonder.”
He turned and looked at his comm unit on his left wrist. He grinned.
“What is classroom instruction without some field work? Get your stuff, let’s go.”
* * *
Several hours had passed. The two Jedi found themselves deep in a thick jungle. A single force sensitive presence was nearby, dark energy bounced around the presence chaotically.
Adrian looked to Nomi.
“He’ll be along soon…”
Before she could reply, a young boy darted into the clearing just in front of them. He must have been eleven or twelve. He was tall for his age, but not overly tall, his dirty blonde hair was a stark contrast to his glowing yellow eyes.
“Some things never change.”
Adrian force pushed the child hard into a tree.
“Nomi tail right!”
Adrian sprinted out from the tree line as the young Sith student pulled himself to his feet, the child’s light saber flew from his belt in mid air it froze as Adrian held out his head. The Jedi knight cocked his head to the side as he heard Nomi’s blade ignite. Just then Adrian pulled slightly harder and the boy’s hilt flew into his own hand.
Adrian smirked at the young Sith and rolled the hilt in his hand before igniting the blade.
“Good morning my young friend. Excellent craftsmanship on this weapon. I’m sure my Padawan would love to discuss it with you, but in the meantime—”
Adrian lifted the blade and the young Sith levitated off the ground helplessly. Fear swarmed in his aura as Adrian pulled towards the blade at break neck speed before extinguishing it. He grabbed the child by the black tunic and slammed him to the ground, he turned him over and put his knee in the Sith’s back he pulled both arms back and fastened special cuffs to his wrists made especially for force sensitives. He removed two knives from the the young man before he got off of him and allowed him to sit up.
The child sneered at him.
“My master is close by Ji’dai, you’ll both pay for this!”
Adrian attached the young sith’s blade to his belt and then tossed his robes on the ground and removed his tunic and showed the young man the tattoo on his right arm.
“We both know that’s not true.”
The young Sith looked shocked as Adrian pulled his tunic back over his head.
“Who are you?!”
Adrian smiled.
“I’m Adrian and this is my Padawan, Nomi. You are?”
Adrian took the Sith’s hilt from his belt and tossed it to Nomi.
The Sith grit his teeth and sneered.
“None of your damn business!!!!!”
Adrian knelt down in front of the boy.
“Any questions for our nameless friend Nomi?”

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
Hours ago:
Nomi slammed them out of orbit and into a basic trajectory out of the system, then let turned in her seat and let Adrian deal with the controls. He hadn’t given her a heading; that was for sure.
“Are you gonna say where we’re going?”
“Negative. Better go sleep; you’re going to need it.”
Her mind was buzzing with curiosity, energy, and the distinct feeling that she’d just triggered her master into… making her pay hard for something. Whether she felt a bit daunted about that or not, some part of Nomi was delighted with this development. But she wasn’t stupid. The eleven year old Padawan went to the cabin, briefly stretched again, and ran through the most boring routine of intentional breathing and counting exercises until she fell asleep easily enough.
“Morning!”
The dim light shot to max brightness and she was promptly awake—and shaking it off because she knew the drill—and then they were outside after a few sentences of terse instructions, in an exhilaratingly intimidating jungle that was trying it’s hardest to give her abad feeling about this—and going deeper into the undergrowth, and THEN….
* * *
Now:
The Guardian-blue blade snapped off. Hilt remaining in her grasp, the tanned Human-Panathan girl returned her hand to her side. Nomi stared, startled but visually confident, at the muddy-blond boy who was maybe six or ten months older than her, who was shaking off the shock of being slammed down into the ground. A red bruise blossomed on his right cheekbone and her Master dug his knee into his back while he got the boy cuffed. The Sith boy was tall and he’d made the most of it with his muscle tone. Most lot of the boys her year hadn’t hit their real growth spurt yet, so she was still taller, but this one had maybe an inch and five pounds on her. He was hateful, swearing, and scared. Adrian looked like he was blatantly enjoying himself, all relaxed confidence and showing off to him.
Nomi pulled the black hilt to her hand and hooked hers back to her belt. Her thumb found the activation plate just like Adrian’s had. Snap-hiss. Bloody red glow extended in front of her and felt — gross. She shifted the hilt in her to get the balance right anyway, her brown eyes glancing past the red blade to the sneering boy in the dirt. It was a single-phase blade. Hers was tuned better, but she could hear in the pitch that the intensity in his was— neat.
She flicked off the red lightsaber and added it to her belt, returning her own hilt to her hand. Nomi cocked her head to the side at the boy in the dirt and her master kneeling brazenly beside him. She wasn’t sure what to do in this situation, but she knew better than to advertise that.
“Great, good to meet you. …Good lightsaber. When did you make it?”

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
Adrian:
The young Sith leaned back slightly as Adrian knelt beside him. A Ji’dai with a Sith tattoo amd in ancient sith script no less. Who was he? His fear intensified and he swallowed hard. With Adrian being so close he had a hard time looking past to Nomi who was admiring his saber. He slowed his breathing and tried to quiet his nerves, his cheek was throbbing but he couldn’t feel it as his adrenaline glands continued to do their thing.
“Last year.”
He scooted back on the ground some of the mud squished beneath him.
“I’m Alec. I’m glad you like it.”
He tried to offer somewhat of a smile, a kindred spirit in lightsaber construction was hard to come by.
Adrian got up and backed off away from the young Sith.
Alec twitched reflexively when Adrian moved.
“Your Master, hurt me. Hardly a fair fight a Ji…Jedi Knight versus a student.”
He noticed from her angle she could not see his back nor his arms if he moved them. He winced a bit as he dug his wrists into the cuffs until he could feel warm blood roll down his mud caked palms.
“Look at my wrists.”
He twisted his torso so she could see them.

The Padawan’s eyes glanced briefly toward her master when he gave them some space, but Adrian was being smug and didn’t seem inclined to give her much guidance at the moment. Fine then. That made it trickier to keep acting like she was on the same page with him, but he obviously knew that and had brought them here on purpose. Nomi didn’t say no much to interesting situations.
“Yeah, that got physical for a minute.”
The eleven year old crouched agilely down, shifting closer to level with the handcuffed blond boy without letting her body position compromise any freedom of movement. Her forearm rested lightly over his lightsaber hilt on her belt while she looked over the slightly taller youth through interested and attentive brown-black eyes. She glanced at his breathing and bruising, replaying the startling thud of her master throwing him against the ground and the tree trunk, Alec’s sneer and the bit of a smile, and the thin dribbles of red to the ground.
Nomi shrugged after a few seconds. “You look fine. Don’t tense your hands and those’ll seal better. I’d disinfect it for you but I don’t really want you try killing me… What are you doing here?”

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
Alec kempt his focus on the younger Jedi as Adrian backed off, he was a threat but it was clear he wasn't going to do anything in this exact moment. He nodded to her and allowed his face to hang in shame trying to look as pathetic as he could in this moment. What was his plan? He wasn't entirely sure what he should do. They were both there and escape was not an option, even if he somehow freed himself the Master would surely kill him, confident as he was Alec was no match for a fully trained Jedi Knight he clearly had more than likely dabbled with the dark side in the past.
He sighed out through his nose and shook his head, droplets of sweat mixed with dirt flew from his hair. He raised his head to look into her eyes and allowed himself to lean back slightly in a much more vulnerable pose. He relaxed his hands and ran his lower teeth against his upper lip.
"I am fine. It hurts, but he caught me by surprise"
Still trying to maintain his vulnerable body language he resisted the urge to roll his eyes at her question. It was not lost on him, how she seemed to be guarding his lightsaber with her arm.
"You're asking me that? I'm training, this place is for Sith, few know of it. Which makes me wonder exactly what you're doing here. If you want to have a real conversation with me uncuff me and allow me some dignity. What am I going to do at this point? Kill you? Even if I did beat you, your Master would take care of me in short order. The cuffs are humiliating, I'm not an animal. Also, you have my lightsaber, just what do you have to fear from me at this point?"
Adrian almost chuckled and shook his head.
<<Not Bad, but she's not stupid.>>
Alec's had whipped around and his searing eyes locked onto Adrian. His upper lip quivered in anger as he tried to maintain his delicate composure. He blocked out the Jedi Knight and turned back to Nomi.
"Aside from our affiliations, you and I are not really different..."

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
Nomi’s unimpressed reaction escaped through her nose in a short scoff at the slightly older boy. She still didn’t know whatever Adrian wanted her to be doing here, but falling for dumb pity acts from obviously combat trained Sith boys was not it. Alec was fine. She didn’t even trust him with the wrist cuffs; they were the opposite of humiliating and they both knew it.
She wasn’t dumb. Forget about lightsabers. If she let a bluff like that from Jachai work on her, she’d be tackled and trying to flip out from under him in a grapple over their knifes in half a second.
“No. Do you have friends who that worked on?”
Or peers. Whatever. Did he have friends?

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
Adrian watched the scene unfold and his Padawan's reaction to the cuffed and rather intentionally pathetic looking Sith boy was downright hilarious and absolutely Nomi level predictability. He had to turn around to avoid outwardly laughing at the situation.
<<I told you...>>
Alec turned his head again and glared at Adrian.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP! Stay the HELL OUT OF MY HEAD! If you are going to kill me then kill me, don't stand there and torment me you overgrown piece of osik. What the hell kind of Jedi are you anyway?! Beating the hell out of a kid, I bet you feel really kriffing proud of yourself."
His heart rate increased and naturally so did his respiration as rage filled his aura. With each breath came a stinging pain in his chest on his right side, slowly he became keenly aware that he was much more hurt than he realized. He tried to calm down and closed his eyes just for a moment, he grimaced in pain and slowly opened his eyes and looked back at Nomi. The young Sith's golden yellow eyes burned as he looked at her.
"Yes, but they aren't like you. As far as me being fine, I really don't think so. I am actually not lying to you and I wasn't lying to you. My chest kriffing hurts and your Master is using telepathy to torment me. I don't give a damn what our affiliations are you do not force your way into someone's mind, not like this... I think my ribs are broken. Every breath hurts. Now can one of you please help me or something?!"

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
Not to be distracted, the girl's dark brown eyes stayed fixed on the Sith boy during his furious outburst at her master. Although... her senses tingled from straining to pay even more attention to their surroundings just in case, and her fingers shifted a little from wishing there was a saber hilt against her palm.
The Sith boy was hurting and furious about this entire thing—no surprise theres—and whatever shock or fear had been flooding his aura before was turning much hotter and angrier now... He was doing a good job with the whole turning fear-into-anger-and-hate thing as far as she could tell.
It was a bit weird how relaxed and how much fun her master obviously seemed like he had slamming this Sith boy into the ground and trees and then being just as rough with restraining him—like maybe Master Lynd was taking that ex-Sith thing a little strong today.
But even if she was a little skeptical about her master ambushing this… unsuspecting.. Sith student and beating him up on a random training planet, Nomi was completely confident there wasn't any secret Darkside mind torture happening in front of her.
There was a solid level of mutual trust she’d built with her master. But besides that, despite popular opinion, Nomi had inherited strong empathic abilities from both her parents and she was actually really good at sensing people. Everything about her master looked and felt normal to her.
And Nomi had JUST seen what it looked like when Adrian dealt with the Darkside last night. This was not it. Alec was pretty mad about whatever it was though.
"What are you actually doing?" she asked while her glance flicked to Adrian, then back to eying the Sith boy.
Alec was increasingly in pain. That much would be true. She would have been too after all that, and broken ribs were completely possible. Chest pain sucked. His eyes were yellow and getting angrier while he glared at her and just kept going on about it though.
Nomi stood up straight again and shook her head.
“You are fine. I’m not trying to just insult you, so don't just get mad. But why are you complaining at me about it? Do you just stop and act like that about broken bones with your other Sith?”

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
Adrian turned to face the pair as he was addressed, he made no sudden moves and simply crossed his arms.
"I simply said, that you weren't stupid when he tried to manipulate you. Then after he failed at manipulating you I basically said told you so."
Alec watched the brief interaction between Nomi and her master in annoyed disbelief. It wasn't that he expected it to go any other way but just the simple and direct answer of exactly what had happened was annoying. There simply was no way to argue that or to manipulate her. This day was nothing but stupid and he had had enough of it. His fiery yellow eyes softened as he took slow deep breaths calming himself down. He cocked his head and cracked his neck, then he lowered his head and snorted out hard, a blood clot freed itself and landed in the dirt and tiny droplets from the forced exhale dotted the ground.
“It's pretty hard to complain to dead opponents.”
He raised his head and smiled at her, his eyes hiding nothing at this point, there was no attempt to gain her sympathy, nor no overt attempt at deceit.
“Guardian Ji'dai right? Why am I asking? I know the answer."
He didn't take his eyes off of her as he practically jumped to his feet. He stared into her soul and smiled.
"You seem disappointed at your first date with a Sith. I can change that. Uncuff me, and we can spar or whatever you want."
He half bowed but kept his eyes locked on hers.
"Now, may I have this dance?"

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
Still leveling her stare at the Sith boy, Nomi Joi crossed her arms at Alec’s sudden recovery into strength and cockiness. See? She’d told him he was fine!
“No. Did that work on the dead friends too?”
The dissatisfied look she’d been giving Alec had disappeared though; so there was that. Nomi also felt like she was starting to understand why her master had looked that cheerful about punching him. He was manipulative, but a lot cooler now.
“Master, I do like him better now. But how much more time do we have for this part of today?”

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
Adrian stood there, arms crossed watching the exchange between the two. On one hand he was amused at the young Sith's attempt at....was it flirting? It couldn't be, it was more trying to lure her in and manipulate her into doing exactly what he wanted her to do.What was his plan at that point? What would he do if he was uncuffed. The Jedi Knight was a bit more than intrigued at that thought. Nomi was watchful and wasn't close to allowing herself be caught off guard. He shrugged his shoulders at her comment.
"He's a good Sith. I'm not entirely sure what you mean, it is up to you what we do next. You're the one with the weapons, he is your prisoner. Where do we go from here Nomi?"
Adrian shifted his gaze to Alec.
"How are you feeling Alec?
The youth shifted and stretched his legs as he stood there for a moment. What were they going to do to him? He felt his heart rate increase slightly again, but he quickly calmed himself. He licked the dried blood from his upper lip, remnants of the clot that he had expelled.
"I feel uncomfortable Master Ji'dai..."
Alec grinned as he squatted down and brought his arms to the ground. He then jumped up and brought his arms out in front of him. His eyes fixed on his lightsaber hanging from Nomi's belt for the time being. He saw Adrian's blue eyes move and then heard a faint metallic click as Alec fully righted himself. He didn't react but his cuffs felt looser, we wasn't sure what happened but something was different.
"Much better now."
He glanced to Nomi.
"What asking them to dance? No, I don't dance with Sith, probably catch a knife if I did. What do you do with your friends?"

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
Nomi was privately a little irritated at the way her master casually threw her under the shuttle and batted the ball back to her instead of going along with her premise that they’d had anything resembling an agreed-on plan about this beforehand. It had been a gamble though and there was no sense moping about it. She shrugged back at Adrian without glancing at him. Fine but it was to go back to the ship then.
“You know. It’s just an unexpected birthday present master, but thank you I love it.”
The Padawan rolled her neck unconcernedly and watched the older boy get himself straightened into a less compromised and less predictable position. She returned her arms to her sides and stretched her wrists and fingers one hand at a time while Alec was staring at the hilts on her belt. Nomi grinned at him in a little half-smirk when he asked about her friends for the first time.
“Lots of stuff. Mostly I win though. Have you ever been in a Jedi shuttle? Go Northwest. It’ll be fun and all and we can look at your ribs.”

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
Knowing exactly how and hard to push the buttons of one's student was a delicate art, too much and you could break trust, too little and the desired experience would not be gained. The plan here had been simple, get her face to face with a Sith student her own age and see the humanity in him and how it was intertwined with evil. She needed to understand at least in his point of view, that both students were made the exact same way, neither of them knew much of anything different than the lives they lived. Adrian had indeed poked around a bit at Alec's memories already, some of them were pretty horrrific, especially the way in which he lost his family, which was absolutely not something to bring up to the youth just yet.
"Good, while I appreciate the humor and I know you know this but I am going to say it anyway. He is a person, referring to him as an object is not appropriate regardless of who and what he is."
As the two were talking Alec was trying to ascertain just what the condition of his cuffs were. He tucked his left hand over his right and felt just how loose the right one had become. Was it even latched? Not changing his expression or moving he came to the quick realization that it at the very least was extremely loose and escaping out of it would not be a chore. What however would be dangerous is picking the right time. Glancing between the two Jedi he reasoned that now was not the moment, maybe aboard the shuttle in a confined space where he could use his surroundings to maybe stun them and get away? He needed his lightsaber and he wouldn't leave without it. If he was able to stun them or distract them by finding something in the shuttle to surprise them both, he reasoned he could pull it off her belt quickly and make his retreat.
He focused on Nomi, letting his expression change to annoyance for a moment.
"Don't call me that again."
A quick and brief exclamation point on what the Master had already said, nothing more was needed and there was nothing to be gained by being overly hostile. He shook his head and rolled his eyes at her.
"Oh yes, we Sith love to travel in Ji'dai shuttles with all of our Ji'dai friends."
He laughed at his own sarcasm and gave her a wry smile.
"Fun? If you say so, I'm fine but I'm not going to refuse getting my ribs looked at. Lead the way..."

….wait.. what? Of course he was a person. Nomi felt lost in the conversation and had to rapidly backtrack to understand why they’d suddenly gone from casual banter to chastising her in public. A flicker of hurt brushed across Nomi’s face and mind that Adrian would embarrass her like that, though to anyone who didn’t know her well it was more a quick frown of confusion than anything else.
She breathed out through her nose and abandoned the thought while she watched Alec wait for his turn.
“Got it,” she told Alec without getting them tripped up in an argument, then gestured slightly in the right direction.
“I’m not gonna lead the way, but, okay great. There is pretty much zero reason to sneak up on you again so you shouldn’t mind being in front. We even have some Jedi sandwich stuff if you want official Jedi lunch when we get there. Unless your ribs are too sore to walk? Maybe my master could carry you or something, but that's no really as cool."

Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
Adrian watched his pupil and her reaction, they had been together long enough for him to know he kriffed up. He'd talk to her later, but sometimes his tact was that of a Sith even after all these years. There are some things that are not just unlearned because you flip the Jedi switch on. It wasn't meant to be harsh, more just a small correction that should have been done in private. He silently cursed in his mind before bringing himself fully back to the moment. He wasn't the perfect teacher but he was who he was and just like her needed to work on a few things here or there.
~~~~~~
Alec shifted the balance on his feet, nothing he tried against her was working, not feigned weakness or injury, not his half flirtatious attempts at dueling with her. He snubbed his nose at her suggestion to carry him....or was that not an entirely bad idea after all? His cuffs were at least loose. If she carried him he might be able to gain leverage of her, but somehow he did not think she was entirely serious.
"I mean if you're that into me you could carry me, I'd have to say it'd be a bit awkward though."
Again with the half flirtation, he didn't even know how to actually do that. First off he was too young to actually even know how to correctly, secondly he did not have time for such things, they were nothing more than a distraction in his quest for power.
"I guess I can lead the way...I guess I could go for a Jedi Sandwich, what's on it anyway?"
Whatever they’d gotten snagged on, Adrian didn’t push her on it and Nomi had bigger things to worry about right now. So she didn’t worry about it.
Her master was here and at least was confident that he had her back while she waved in the general direction of the shuttle again and continued watchfully walking near Alec. The padawan girl fell into at a fairly versatile place walking to one side and just a little behind the Sith boy; not so far behind him that she couldn’t see what his hands were up to.
“Oh you know. Lightside and justice and some flowers. They’re pretty good. Were you born with the Sith?”
Re: (B) “Let’s Talk About That.”
The young Sith's eyes rolled completely absent his control.
"Pfft. Sounds like they taste like shit then."
He smirked and turned to give her a mischievous stare. If she could dish it out she best be able to take it, if not then maybe she wouldn't be that difficult of an opponent to beat anyway. He twitched his left thumb and could feel the cuffs loosening. He could break free, but now wasn't the right moment. He noticed the elder Jedi still in stride with them watching closely, the wrong move her would be suicide.
"I was."
How much information was he willing to give her? He wasn't sure, he turned quickly before she could respond.
"At least so I'm told, I was born way out in the outer rim so I really don't know or care. You learn not to fully trust what other Sith tell you. There are always layers to what they say. From what I can tell the more intricate the story is, the bigger of a lie it is."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Adrian could not help but laugh at that last comment.
"You're not wrong about that."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alec's face contorted in anger, he wanted nothing more than his lightsaber right now, but patience was a virtue even for a Sith.
"Your Master seems to know a lot about the Sith."[/color]
