The Jedi Archives

Post by Johnathon Lynd »

The bacta patch caused his upper left arm to itch, it was annoying. The young man looked around the room a piece of midnight blue cloth tied neatly around his head almost like a sweatband stood out as something different about the way he presented himself. He was organizing old and sacred Jedi texts that some of the more careless students had failed to put them back as usual. He rolled his eyes about the mundane task before him, he of course knew where everything went, but it was the sheer principal of it more than anything. These children were supposed to be aspiring Jedi Knights, they were supposed to show respect to other life forms and this was the most basic form of respect. Just because he was a member of the Service Corps and not one of them did not mean that his time was any less valuable than theirs was. He had information that flooded his mind every moment of every day that could be used to save lives...or end them.

"Or end them....?"

He stopped what he was doing for a moment and set a book down on a shelf nearest to him. He had said the last few words out loud, but it was no matter, no one was around to hear them, moreover even if they did they were out of context, it could be the title of a book or words that he happened to pick out of a book, not that it mattered, he could feel that no one was there. He stood there for a long moment realizing he could feel a lot of things around him now. When did this start? He wondered silently to himself, he hadn't quite had these feelings before, he of course felt things and the presences of others before but their presence was always masked, it was if he was trying to make out a face while staring into the thickest fog one could imagine.

He looked over at the book and focused on it for a moment, he gestured with a finger and the book opened without his physical touch. His eyes widened and his heart rate increased a bit in astonishment. He could move things with the force, just like a Jedi. Is this why Rain had come to stop him? Is this what she saw in him and if so why hadn't he seen it or felt it until now?

He moved his hand and watched the book close and levitate off the ground and find it's way to the shelf where it belonged. Then there was a presence, it entered the Archives through the main hall. Immediately he dropped his hand and concealed his movement, it was one of the Masters. He wasn't sure that he should tell whomever it was about his new found abilities, he was not entirely sure why, but he wasn't sure that he wanted to be a Jedi like them. If they found out he had learned control, then maybe they would use him for his visions and that would be exhausting. He wanted his visions to stop....wait.

They had stopped, or at least they weren't flooding his mind the way they normally were. He arched an eyebrow and reached out into the abyss, only to receive a slew of visions, but not all at once, one at a time, neatly filing in one after another, step by step into the recesses of his mind. There was a rape, a murder, torture, animal abuse, the genocide of a dictator on some alien world, they were all so clear and vivid, but then he pulled back and they were gone.

"I have control."

He swallowed hard and breathed a sigh of relief as the presence closed in on him. He waited, he normally wouldn't wait though, sao the young man turned to face the Jedi Master standing next to him.

"Master Carson....You need the texts on the outer rim."

They hated it when he did that and he knew it, that's part of why he did it. Especially Master Carson, it must be an arrogance thing as he always assumed he was in control and any time Johnathon could make the man who had shoved him against a shelf feel insignificant or at least insufficient, he would. Johnathon climbed the ladder after scooting it over a tad and retrieved the volume that the Jedi Master so desired along with the necessary devices for the blind to read the texts of the book so to speak. He climbed down and handed to him non-chalantly. He looked to the other book, the one that he had moved by manipulating the force, it sat there on the shelf and Master Carson was non the wiser. He then looked back to the Jedi Master and ran his hand through his hair and sighed.

"Master if there is nothing else, these shelves aren't going to organize themselves."

He stared at the man, careful not to allow his aura to change into anything that was less than typical of the angsty Junior Archivist that the Jedi Master had come to know. His eyes locked onto him, for the first time he felt superior to the Jedi Master, his eyes took in everything they needed to. Why would he ever want to be one of them? Surely they'd want to train him if not now, then sometime in the near future, he couldn't see it yet, but he knew it would be coming. Why would anyone want to be one of them? Their moral superiority was shattered just in what he could see in Anthony, past, present, and future.

Or end them....the thought echoed through his mind again. There was so much evil in this galaxy. He watched Anthony walk away without paying Johnathon anymore attention than normal. There was so much evil and Rain had said his wings were not open yet and it hurt when they were starting to. Were his wings finally opening to their full potential? Was there something he could do to make the evil stop? Who could he turn to? No one, there was no one he could trust with this level of thinking. For one the Jedi were too small for it, but that's not to say he was sure he knew where this thinking would carry him. It was a seed that was planted in his mind and what it turned into would require patient analysis, but it was the nature of the seed that would alarm the Jedi, they wouldn't water it, they would dig it up and cast it aside. He couldn't tell them, he couldn't tell any of them of this thought, not even Alex.
"Peace is a utopian idea perpetuated by those who believe they can change things for what they perceive to be the better. Peace is a lie.

I believe in spreading that lie."
