Coruscant, Solara Residential Apartments.
Long ago.
A modest income level apartment complex in a fairly safe residential area. The streets and flight lines outside buzzed with speeder and urban activity, but the walkways at this level were were modestly well maintained. It was well lit, free from much litter, even dotted with scrubby young trees in heavy pots here and there. Much farther above, the apartments had balconies or tiny private landing pads on upper levels; a few even with very small private gardens.
At street level, there was an intercom and camera for any visitors who didn't have keys or the code to get inside the main buildings. Past that, a person would either take a short hallway or a turbolift up or down to get to the right individual home.

Passion:
1: Powerful emotion, such as love, desire, pride, joy, or hatred.
2: Intense enthusiasm.
3: A barely controllable display of emotion, especially of anger.
“Through Passion, I gained strength.”
It was not enough.

Re: Back to This
*This was the place. Svo'k sighed and took in a very deep breath. This was indeed the place. He took another breath, his heart was beating out of his chest and his palms were sweating in his brown leather gloves. He could take them off, she had seen his hands before so what did it matter? He pondered that thought for a moment, but it wasn't really her that mattered. He was dressed as a Jedi and if someone else saw him out here it might taint their opinion of the Jedi. Optics were annoying, especially when he wasn't really here as a Jedi. He found his way inside and made his way to the wall which had a map of the building on it. He found the hallway he was looking for and made his way there.
There was of course a surge of emotions as he made his way down the hallway towards the turbolift. Was this really a good idea? How could opening this wound be a good thing? For all he knew she hadn't changed a single bit and this could lead to much worse things. He wasn't sure how he felt about her either, the last time they were together it took everything in him to not just cut her in two, but this of course is what led him to go to the Jedi temple. So in a way, she was responsible for him becoming a Jedi....and Adrian's death, lets not forget that part. He entered the turbolift and pressed the second floor.
It wouldn't be long now. He had searched for her for close to a month to see if she was even still living, imagine his surprise when he found her living on the same world as him, what was even more surprising is that she was still alive. Again, Svo'k took in a deep breath as the turbolift stopped.
He exited and made his way down the hallway C-2-4 and C-2-5. A mat? Home sweet home? He wasn't really sure he had the right place, but whatever. He stopped in front of the door, he had spent much time in front of the mirror this morning, he wondered if she'd recognize him with his buzzed hair and blue eyes that were no longer the Sith red she had was used to.
He raised his arm and clenched his right hand, steady now...a knock...and now the waiting game.*

Re: Back to This
The woman started at the knock on the door. Unusual, but now and then there would be maintenance or a delivery person who bypassed the ground-level security…. Law enforcement… a neighbor… Arik?… an assassin…. …Ranae…
Possibilities flicked through Kira's mind while she strode to the door, stepping into her shoes and pulling them on as she passed the closet. She left the small pistol in her holster untouched… That was an instinct she'd worked on. She peered through the peephole and her stomach lurched 6 directions at once.
Jidai.
They showed up now? Really?
Steeling herself for the unknown, she tapped her door panel. Every muscle in her body tensed as she came face to face with the Jedi. There was a tremor in her hand at her side, but she still didn't touch her pistol. It was a simple L-40 or 43, possibly modified, but nothing in the league of the sleek silver Westar she'd always carried.
Physically, she was still Kira. So many years since they'd seen each other, and her form and features were still a flawless, unfairly attractive, model for Hapan genetic perfection. Wars had been fought over persons less breathtaking. Slaves taken, money paid, threats made, celebrities become wildly successful, crimes committed, or fortunes made or broken. Enough lives had been ruined in her own history.
She stared at the man, exotic green eyes startled and aloof, but not openly hostile. Then — She blinked. Her emotions flashed; too many, too quickly, to register. Scrutiny, shock, distrust. Questions! A soul-deep loneliness for just an instant until she slammed it from her mind. Her body tensed even more. Emotions locked down, but there was no gathering of Force-energies around her whatsoever….
He'd gotten older. Blue eyes like Miranda's. A Jedi? Wearing their clothes again, even standing like them. Tense; but he looked good. Mostly. He was on her doorstep. Now. After years. He'd been with the Jedi. Did he know anything about Arik…? He might, but she wouldn't, wouldn't, WOULDN'T, ask. He'd showed up at her door in their uniform. Why? Why would he?
"Svo'k."
Kira spoke in surprise after a long pause. She chewed at her lip, like a nervous twitch. She kept staring. She wore black athletic pants and a blue top, fitted and versatile, but.. normal. Her striking white hair was pulled back and up, twisted and held with a simple clip. Her nails were cut short. No polish. No jewelry. She wasn't moving from the doorway. The hallway behind her was average… carpeted, neat, with a glimpse into a rather homey kitchen-dining space with a potted plant on the table.
Her health looked perfect; her skin and hair shone, but she was so tense. Trying very hard not to shake. She crossed her arms in front of herself, unconsciously rubbing her left wrist with her other hand. Thousands of tiny, faded, pits or marks, so many that they were more like faint micro-freckles than anything else, lined her arms, clustering beneath her elbows or at the right wrist. Svo'k had been there for the creation of two or twenty of them... He'd placed a few... but nothing like this. Kira kept staring up at him.

Svo'k:
*The door opened and time stood still for a moment as her figure filled the open doorway, she was still beautiful, barely any different from the girl that he had known so many years ago. His test tightened a bit, it was as if he had not really expected her to be here, as if there was someone else on-world with the name Kira Cerof.
He knew it to be true and he knew Arik would probably know where she was, unless something had changed with them. It wasn't all that long ago that he had seen her twin on some beach somewhere, but he kept his distance after that encounter as he did not wish to interfere with Arik's life anymore than he already had.
Only seconds had passed and he had heard everything that she had said to him, but only in a daze, this moment would not pass, no matter how much he wanted it to. The pain in his chest did not subside as he stared at the woman before him, the wound was successfully opened and the twenty year old pain hurt now just as much as it did then...*
"Kira..."
*His blue eyes gazed down and away as he grabbed the back of his neck a bit awkwardly.*
"A long time...yeah."
*Stupid. He really couldn't think of much else to stay, it was as if someone took a knife and just shoved it into his throat, he swallowed hard and tried to compose himself.*
"I'm a Jedi now, have been for awhile, I live here on Coruscant and I...don't know just thought I'd look you up. I mean...I can leave if you want...you look good..."
*Svo'k's eyes looked up to meet hers, uncertainty flooded his aura, he still wasn't sure if this was the right thing to do, in fact that pain in his chest was every indication that this was the wrong thing to do, yet he stood there, firmly grounded.*

Re: Back to This
Kira twisted her fingers together, her tanned fingers going pale at the knuckles while she stared at him and listened.
He looked uncomfortable too. And what benefit would he get from lying to her? If he'd wanted to be threatening, it would be better to start things differently. If he was Jedi and they finally felt like arresting her… this didn't seem right for that. She was useless to much of anyone else, maybe even to Ranae. Unless someone had a taste for revenge. But now? Even Svo'k. If he'd been doing well for so long, why would he come now? They must all be happy. She'd know if Arik was dead… She should have known… So they'd all been happy… For years….
She reached to tighten her hair bun, then dropped her hands back to her sides.
He still looked good. Better than she remembered. The gloves couldn't be fooling anyone, but he did LOOK Ji'dai. More than he used to those times when he'd played at it. They'd just taken him in, and… No, she wasn't thinking about that anymore.
"No…" she finally answered. She swallowed and crossed her arms, still staring up at Svo'k. She hadn't managed any coherent thoughts about her answer, but words finally fell out of her mouth. "You don't have to go. You can whatever. I've been.. different.. places. Then Malastare… Naboo, but it was.. too many memories. Then here. I got more self-sufficient. I stopped burning toast. Bought a speeder. Kill the bugs. And--So you know--I'm not going with you anywhere. So there's that. It can't happen."
The tanned Hapan's fingers had started going white again when he mentioned how she looked. She got her hands to relax, but bit her lip instead. She started rubbing her wrist again. Her eyes darted away, then back at him.
"Svo'k… I've been good. I let you all be.. And didn't intrude… Why are you here?"

Svo'k:
"Well I think that's what killed it didn't it? The burnt toast..."
*Svo'k managed a half smile at his somewhat witty and...well quite stupid remark in an effort to break the tension in the air.
This was a mistake.
Why was he here? He didn't have a kriffing clue, he just was and it seemed like the thing to do after nearly two decades so there was that. He swallowed and listened to her ramblings, which seemed a bit bit nonsensical, but he listened to what she had to say. But why was he here? It seemed like a rather blunt question, one that she had asked in a tone that caused him to recoil and his brow to lower. Why was he here?! He was here because she was here and at one moment in a time that was no so far away they shared something, something quite special in it's own kriffed up way. He had made peace with his children, he had made peace with everyone but Kira. Now she was left and there was still a part of him that was standing in that kitchen in that oh so familiar apartment on Naboo as she left him. A part of him that wanted nothing more than to reach out and extinguish every last flicker of life left in her.
That part however, was quiet, in the deep recesses of his mind. Those were not the thoughts of a Jedi Knight, and not ones he had dared to let her feel, but now he was a bit annoyed at the presumptuousness of the question, as if he was supposed to leave her alone after all these years, it's not like there was a deal he signed with her.*
"Call it masochism. Call it morbid curiosity. Maybe there is still a side of me that craves the pain that I felt in my youth. Or maybe, just maybe, I never stopped caring about you for some sick and twisted reason. Maybe after close to twenty years, that care came rushing to the surface and I felt the need to find you and see how you are and see...you."
*Svo'k's blue eyes lowered to the ground.*
"I lost my son Kira, I lost Adrian because of who I was, because he felt like following in my footsteps. He's dead. Yet when I lost him, I found Damien who turned out quite well despite both of us and our failures in raising him. It's almost as if he did the exact same thing Adrian did, but in the opposite way.
When you left me in the kitchen on Naboo, I was done, so very done with everything. I left for the Jedi temple the next day under the guise of seeing what it was all about."
*Svo'k sighed*
"Weeks later, I decided to join the Jedi and begin my training. Adrian screamed at me, professed his hatred towards me for betraying him and left. The very next time I saw him, I was staring down at his lifeless body, the smell of burnt flesh in the air and his lifeless eyes staring back up at me. Four years had passed and he had died at the hand of the Jedi, technically not mine, but it might as well have been. I killed him Kira, I drove him to his death, with my behavior that he idolized. He was trying to prove himself to me...
Since then, I've been trying to make sense of things and find the people I have wronged and that I have hurt and make things right with them. So maybe that's why I'm here, to see you and to...osik...that's not why I'm here. I can't really explain it Kira and I most certainly do not expect you to come anywhere with me, that was never a plan or even a thought that crossed my mind.
I'm just here."

Re: Back to This
Kira finally stopped holding her breath. She let out a shaking exhale, ran a hand through her hair, and held the door open; gesturing for him move in out of the hallway.
The entryway and living space were entirely ordinary. Brightly lit, just the way Hapan eyesight liked it. Simply decorated. There were hooks on the wall for jackets. One coat was a simple grey one in her size; another was purple and far too small for her. There was a living room behind her... something was cooking in the kitchen. It was ordinary.
“Svo’k…” She repeated faintly, with a hint of too many emotions to choose between. “Okay.”
There were new lines in the face that had been flawless once; a few were scars that he’d never seen. Others were subtle, but still etched into her face from worry or pain… More than any of that; the unspoken sense that she felt above everyone else was just... gone.
“You're alive. You look good. Sit... Or, you can if you want.”
She was healthy, but very guarded. And mortal. Her heart was hammering. She touched the back of a chair at the dining table for him, then moved a few feet away to the kitchen doorway.
"Sit… I can get some water. Or… blum juice… Just sit. I'll turn off the stove .”

Re: Back to This
*He nodded quietly as she invited him in, his eyes took in the brightly lit interior, his pupils shrunk and he squinted momentarily, this was something he did not miss. He looked towards the coat rack and noted the smaller coat and contemplated for a moment what that meant. She had a kid, another one, for half of a half of a third of a heartbeat he'd wondered if it could be his but then realized that given the size, math was indeed a thing. He was not nearly as guarded as she had been, but there was still some tension in his stance and in his shoulders. Watching the way she moved, he couldn't help think back to those days and how much had changed and yet how much was exactly the same. He searched his feelings, slicing through scars long healed on his heart and came to a startling conclusion, he still felt the same about her as when they were two dark teenagers experimenting with chemicals and each other. Was this a good thing? The drugs and alcohol were a thing long gone in his past, occasionally he drank but nothing approaching the levels he did as a young man and since leaving Naboo, he had never once taken any illicit substances nor had he really been tempted to.
He pulled the chair out and sat down, carrying a new weight on his shoulders, or was it merely something that he was simply unaware that he had always carried?*
"Whatever, is fine Kira, I don't want to be a bother."
*She had said that he looked good, but he was struck just how good she looked, his heart fluttered for a moment.*
"Thank you, but you look better I think."
*Stupid line, he had a better game as a teenager than he did now.*
"What I mean is, you look like you did the last time I saw you, not like it's been as long as it has."

Re: Back to This
Kira set one hand against the solid realness of the kitchen doorframe, tracing tiny circles with her thumb. Her eyes followed his gaze around the living space, her fingertips going paler against her tan with every second. He sat down, finally… and then…complimented her. The Hapan woman laughed a dry, half-hearted chuckle and rested the side of her head against the doorway. It felt like too many lifetimes... but neither of them were even old yet. Not really. She just hadn't thought about it for a while.
“Thanks. No.. You’re fine. I don’t think you’re being a bother.”
She glanced at the chrono, then back at the changed ghost of the past sitting carefully in a chair her table. Kira swallowed and went into the kitchen.
There had been a soup pan of water with butter and broth boiling on the stove. Kira turned the heat off and stirred in around a quarter cup more of the tiny rice-size noodles than she’d originally been planning to. He might not stay. She didn’t even know if she wanted him to stay. But the dinner proportions weren’t anything complicated to alter. Kira left it alone for a minute, then added some cheese, some cooked diced nerf… what was that thing he had the vendetta about… broccoli? Whatever. She skipped the bowl of vegetables she’d had chopped and pulled a frozen pack of chopped carrots and balka instead. Good enough. She dumped the whole thing back into the convenient warmer on the counter and set it to stir and sort itself out without needing any more attention on her part. It was homey and tasty enough.
Three minutes had passed. She twisted her fingers around each other and glanced around the kitchen…. Water didn’t feel like it cut it, but she was hardly about to pour him a glass of milk. Her heart was pounding lightyears faster than the clock now.
She walked back into the living space and set a pair of Holo-Heroes themed juice boxes on the table in front of him - something about Blue Warrior Berry, or Mystic Apple. He was clearly meant to choose first.
Kira ran a hand through her hair and finally looked straight at his eyes again. She had too many nerves to sit down.
“She’ll be home from school in a few minutes; five, maybe ten. It was complicated. I.. Don’t have the time or the composure to go over it. You look… calmer now. A lot. Feel however you need to but if you need to get hurt or angry and can’t be polite, please just go. I didn't even lie to you about anything or change my mind... or get stupid about it. Whatever you’re thinking, it’s not that. Stuff just happened. And she's good. She's happy... And if you try to go Ji'dai and take her... it's over my body. Please just have some juice.”

Re: Back to This
Sitting there at the kitchen table for three minutes, seemed as if it was an eternity. He was calm yes, but the tension in the air was thick, but thinning quickly. He looked around the room once more, trying not to appear as if he was being in any way nosey or overly intrusive but he was curious. She was indeed the woman that he had spent a lot of time with and shared more than his being with. They had been so close so long ago and his curiosity was natural, but he had to be aware that after all this time they might as well be total strangers.
He graciously took the mystic apple juice box and stuck the straw in it and sipped it. It was a bit sweet for his taste, but it nothing was stopping him from enjoying it. He gently set the box back down on the table and listened carefully as she began to speak. He wasn't entirely sure how to take the words that came from her mouth, so he decided not to take them in any way at all. He was conscious of his facial reactions, the last thing he wanted to do was put her even more ill at ease than she was already. He offered her a gentle smirk at the comment about potentially taking her child away from her, that was not going to happen under any circumstances, but then there was the word....Ji'dai. A word that he had used often in his younger and more vulnerable years, but this was the first time he was consciously aware of someone using it to describe him. The way it hit his ear just felt off and of course the irony was not lost on him on just how much the tables had indeed turned.
"First thing is first, I'm a Jedi, not a child abductor. I have no interest in taking your child from you and if someone dares to even try it while I'm sitting here, it won't end well for them, but of course whether I'm here or not you are more than capable of handling that on your own and I would never even doubt for a second that you were."
He took in a breath through his nostrils and sipped the juice box again.
"I do not pretend to know what happened that resulted in you with another child and it is not that I do not care, not at all, I'm happy for you and I most certainly do not hold a grudge about anything that happened. I'm just glad that you seem to be doing well, I did think of you and what life might have had in store for you, it is not....that I ever stopped caring. We just had reached forks in the road, the both of us, at the same time and those forks took us apart and while I was extremely angry then, I'm not anymore. Things are good for me and I hope they are good for you too, they certainly look decent."
He folded his hands in front of him.
"Does she have a name?"

Re: Back to This
Oh kriff it all… He really was a Jedi. A real one. Just look at how calm and caring and healthy he was. Not that she felt angry or even all that bitter about it at the end of the day. They were older now; she understood that some of her reasons for hating anything “Light” had been petty to begin with… and that most of the more serious reasons had been rooted in lies and manipulation anyway, mostly meant to control her or to keep poisoning her trust in her brother. Sure, they’d gotten in her way a handful of times. With and without her brother, they’d destroyed her smuggling ring… injured her… and killed her master… and her friends… But did she actually blame them? Not especially. And it seemed to suit Svo’k, honestly.
Kira smiled wryly at the bittersweet irony of half a dozen things he’d said in the last minute. She was no Jedi… Strictly speaking, she was even a child abductor, at least by some of the more legalistic definitions, although she lost no sleep over the ethics in this case… Then Svo’k said something about his faith in her competence, and her gut clenched up in something like grief or unhappy humor about the whole thing. She choked on a laugh.
The tanned Hapan woman slipped close enough to pick up the warrior-blue juice box and pop in the straw. Kira left the wrapper neatly next to the potted lily on the table, and then quietly returned to stand midway between the apartment door and Svo’k. She sipped her juice box and searched the man at her table with hard jade green eyes. His were a more natural blue than she’d ever seen, as best as she could remember. Hers were close, but the last remnant rim of dulled gold had never totally left her irises, if someone looked closely enough. There’d been no meditating or retraining or cleansing. But she wasn’t Sith. She hadn’t even touched Darkness in years. So at least there was that.
He was so calm. Even his hands were calm… Less tense, steadier than hers were. She swept her fingers through her hair.
“Yes, her name is Skye.”
What had he said about everything that had happened? Kira sank to sit on the floor beside her apartment’s entry door, and sat the juice box down to her left.
“Svo’k... I know it was a long time ago.. but I’m sorry to hear about Adrian. I wish I was surprised... but I'm so sorry.”
She pulled one leg up to her chest and folded her arms around that ankle, resting her chin against her knee while she kept watching him.
“There were some choices, sure.... Arik did the best he could with me.. but I fricking murdered our parents in an evil gang war and I was proud of myself. For five years. It was always blind luck you and I weren't dead already before we even met. The odds were still so much against us for years after that... I don't know. You're doing something right because you're better than I've seen you in my life. I'm not so bad either. I don't know how you feel about the luck thing or not or if Jedi do that, but whatever there is to be thankful about... I know we've got it.”

Re: Back to This
He was unjudging in his careful study of her body language. She might be easing up a bit and he watched her choke on a laugh, her eyes were not the ones he remembered but his were not likely the ones she remembered either. He watched as she leaned in and picked the juice box up before placing the wrapper on the table next to the potted lily. His eyes followed her as she stood between the door thinking about the significance of that movement.
"That's a pretty name."
He watched her sit down and thought of the dynamics of the situation. He could get up and sit down next to her but she had clearly placed herself between the soon to be home Skye and him. That much was intentional whether she meant it or not and sitting down next to her would likely make her feel ill at ease. He nodded as she spoke and carefully took his juice box in his hand, slowly stood up and lightly pushed his chair in under the table. He then took a half step and sat down directly across from her crossing his legs in front of them, he took a sip on the near child taste bud oriented juice box.
"Thank you. I wish I was surprised as well when it happened, but he is still missed and held in my heart."
She pulled one knee up under her chin and wrapped her arms around her ankle, she was guarded about what she was about to say. He slowly inhaled and met her eyes once more. He stayed calm, his facial expression was warm and inviting despite having just spoke about his late son whom he missed dearly. Scarcely a day went by when the thoughts of Adrian did not dance through his mind, what could have been, perhaps what should have been, but that was all in the past now and he had trained himself to think on those things now and again and then to let them go the same way he had to let Adrian go.
He listened as she began to speak and he nodded subtly, he had never been told the story of what had happened to her parents. He noted the slight change in tone when she revealed she had killed hers and Arik's parents. He nodded with a an understanding as those clearly painful words made her way from the depths of her soul to pass from her mouth with quiet pain that had been long buried within her. He wanted to get up and hug her, pull her in close and tell her that it was all okay as she continued to speak, but that was not going to work. They weren't there yet and he did not know if they ever would be, but he could still offer some form of comfort without physical contact. She continued talking about them, it was nothing short of a miracle that they were both still breathing that much was true. His eyes found the floor for a brief moment before returning to her as he thought about what she said.
"There were choices, I wish I had words of comfort about your parents other than that's how we were raised to be but I don't. It isn't an excuse, it is just a fact."
He smirked a bit.
"Jedi don't in general do the luck thing as you say, but I do. A lot of it was luck. I have regrets about my life too Kira, certain things I can piece together and move past, certain things I can understand. There were things about you and I that I regret, but the thing is Kira, I never regretted you and I still don't. We did a lot and as a Jedi I'm not going to sit here pretend I didn't enjoy every bit of the fun times as dubious as some of the behavior we engaged in was."
He looked at her.
"I always enjoyed us Kira even when we were at each other's throats. We always knew where we stood with the other, there is something raw and brutally pure about that as messed up as some of it was. So yes, I am thankful for that and I am quite sure I wouldn't be here alive now had we never met."
He took a long sip of his juice box, the slurping sound indicating the last of the liquid sugar nearly gone. He set it neatly in his lap and smiled.

Re: Back to This
“Thank you.”
Kira sat across from Svo’k on the dining room floor, her eyes and the set of her mouth changing a handful of times from shades of regret or shame to warmth and a brief smirk of pride before she faded back into a more distant expression. She sipped her juice once or twice and sat in silence, watching the calm steadiness of Svo’k’s gloved hands until she felt the subtle vibration of the turbolift down the hall.
“Bye, Ymyri! See you tomorrow!”
“Bye, Skye!”
“Bye, Jek! Bye, Lani!”
“Bye, Skye! Bye, Ymyri!”
The tanned Hapan woman picked up her juice box and stood up without bringing herself to glance at the Jedi knight's face again. Unlocking the apartment door, she tapped the control panel and slipped lithely into the corridor before it had even opened all the way. The door panel froze politely in place in a only partially-open position while Kira stood in the hallway and a single set of lightweight footsteps broke away from a group and pattered up near the door.
“Hi, Mama!”
“Hello, my love. How was school?”
“Good. I made a clay tooke. We’re going to paint them tomorrow.”
“That sounds like fun. We have company today. Is that okay?”
“Oh. Yes that’s okay. Who visited?”
“Let’s come inside and we can meet him. Want some juice?”
The door panel reactivated properly, and Kira stepped back into the apartment with a little girl’s purple backpack slung comfortably over one of her shoulders. The owner of the backpack stepped comfortably and curiously in beside the Hapan woman.

Re: Back to This
Skye Cerof was a petite, clearly cared for little child in a mostly purple outfit; likely around seven years old. Hapan bloodlines seemed to usually run dominant. Both Svo’k and Kira’s daughter, Miranda, and even Damien had always strongly favored their mother in appearance and genetics. Miranda had never stood in a room with Kira at anything close to this age, but even in childhood pictures or holovids the resemblance had always been striking.
This child’s startling resemblance to Kira was on another level entirely; just as much as her differences were. In every possible respect—down to a single faint freckle high and far back along their left cheekbone, this child’s form and features were a nearly perfect younger copy her of mother. Perhaps not quite as startlingly—it was a colorful galaxy, and this was Coruscant after all—but in a still rather striking and noteworthy detail, Skye was blue. From the warm cornflower blue tint of her complexion, to the lightest nearly-white periwinkle of her hair, not one cell of the girl appeared to be quite typically human.
“Oh… Hello mister… Jedi…” Skye told Svo’k with a mildly alarmed, but overall very polite and curious look. Her mother had talked with her a few times about Jedi… Not in a way that made Skye feel frightened, but she understood that things were just weird sometimes. She sipped the rest of the juice box that Kira had just been drinking, and set it carefully onto the table next to the lily, her blue-green eyes continuing to thoughtfully stare at their house guest. “In our living room.”

Re: Back to This
Kira set the backpack against the floor under the two coat hooks and moved to stand just behind Skye. The tanned woman wrapped her arms warmly around the child’s shoulders. The blue-toned little girl settled contently back against Kira's torso and reached up to hold her forearms while they regarded the Jedi Knight sitting in front of the dining room table.
“Skye, this is Svo’k. He was, umh, my very good friend. We met a long time before you were alive.. and.. before he was a Jedi. And, we were a little bit married for a while. We did our best to be part of a family with your sister Miranda, and Damien...” And Arik. And Makhai. “But it was before I was much good at it. We moved away and it has been a very long time. But I feel happy that he thought of finding us today.
Svo'k; this is my daughter Skye.”
The girl continued to watch Svo'k inquisitively, seeming to feel secure and comfortable in her current situation. “You were being married with him when you were bad?”
“Yes.”
(Was he bad?)
“Sometimes. The same as I was.”
(Before you were sad?)
“Yes.”
“Before you—”
Kira sat on the floor and squeezed her hug a little tighter around the child's shoulders. “Yes. And before you were you.”
“But.. he turned into a Jedi person?” Skye sat against Kira and turned her head incredulously upwards to check the woman's expression.
Kira nodded. “Yes.”
(That you like?? A safe one?)
Kira stared over the girl's head at Svo'k, considering his reaction from ten minutes before. “Yes. Svo'k. This is Skye. I, um, took her with me from another bad family. Much worse than we were. We don't really talk about that, but it was one of the best things I've done. I'm very thankful for her.”
“Yes.”

Passion:
1: Powerful emotion, such as love, desire, pride, joy, or hatred.
2: Intense enthusiasm.
3: A barely controllable display of emotion, especially of anger.
“Through Passion, I gained strength.”
It was not enough.

Re: Back to This
Skye stared open-mouthed at Kira and then looked brightly back to Svo'k. This was the most interesting day she could remember.
“Are you gonna visit again??”

Re: Back to This
So much had happened in the last few minutes, he wasn't sure even as a Jedi he could recall it all if asked. There was a slew of emotions that went in him that he had examined neatly before letting pass through him and then there were the ones that stuck, the ones that he would have to examine later.
First as Skye had walked into the door and he had caught his first glance of her he was transported back eighteen years. He was a young man then lost and confused but finally finding purpose in his life. The memory was so vivid, he doubted it would ever leave him entirely, no matter how much he examined it and thought he had come to terms with it. Standing there in the rain on Ossus, clad in black, the robes of an order he wasn't sure he understood anymore and holding a newborn in his arms he looked at Akire and told her that he would be back for her but he had to go. He had looked down at the newborn and tears filled his eyes, he promised her he'd be back for her, he lied to her. The rage he had felt burning at the center of his aura crept back in for half a millisecond nearly twenty years later as he saw Skye walk in through the door. Perhaps the rage was just an echo, perhaps he should see Harper after this and discuss it with him, but it was gone so quick it was as if it had never seemed to happen.
As all of this had happened, Svo'k was careful not to let his outside perceptible aura change at all, it was pleasant, and most of all it would feel safe. He was keenly aware of what his body language was too, under no circumstances would he allow the twitch of a muscle that could come across the wrong way to the little girl before him.
His conscious mind snapped back to the moment, the here and now where it belonged, there would be time for reflection and self examination later. Skye was a beautiful little girl, her looks were uncannily similar to her mother's. He thought back to Damien whom he had seen rather recently, Kira had clearly talked with Skye about Damien and Miranda, Svo'k wondered silently if Damien would want to see her at any given point, the same with Miranda.
"Hello Skye it's nice to meet you."
There was an audible conversation that took place just before telepathic conversation that ensued between Skye and Kira, it was none of his business, but he did indeed hear most of it. Natural questions for a child of a former Sith to ask about the Jedi sitting in their living room. What was curious to him was that Kira was answering aloud not using telepathy at all, the warm smile did not fade from his face as he studied the interaction between the two of them. She was either answering aloud to show Skye that Svo'k was not to be feared or something else. Could she answer telepathically anymore? That was a striking thought and given the surprise at his presence when he had made no real effort to conceal himself in the force, and the overall tone of what was going on now, it was the thought he was leaning towards being most accurate.
Then Skye posed an interesting question. Was he going to visit again.
"Skye I would be delighted to visit again if you and your Mother want me to."
He made sure to give the child his attention as she spoke to him and he replied, but then his eyes drifted towards Kira again. How quickly they had fallen for each other before, a lifetime ago. He loved her then and as he was examining his emotions he could most certainly love her again, that wasn't the question. The question was if each of them could deal with the other in their lives again and that was a question that could not be entirely answered by a nice afternoon sipping juice and having a pleasant conversation. That answer would take time, possibly lots of time, which was fine by him. He hadn't found himself looking for any kind of romantic relationship since he joined the Jedi, he did after all have a reputation when he left the Sith. A reputation that he worked hard to put behind him, and he had succeeded, some still remembered but they judged him by the Jedi they saw before him, not the dark and confused young man that they had heard about.
