‘There is no Ignorance, ...’

Post by Kaytren Li »

206 ABY.
Naboo > The Council of Knowledge.

‘Each member of the Jedi Order—from the youngest initiate to the wisest master—was devoted to following the Jedi Code: There is no emotion, there is peace. There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. There is no passion, there is serenity. There is no chaos, there is harmony. There is no death, there is the Force.’
―Luke Skywalker

Infirmary work and Healing study were completed for the day unless something emergent came up. Kaytren Li and Erril Winterhold had ended up sitting on the low ledge of steps that led from Erril’s claimed garden yard into his apartment and study. Kaytren glanced inside at one of the shelves visible through the door behind Erril, then back to the smaller stacks of books and datpads between them. There were symbols of the Order from across the ages on most; at least on the books or physical texts.

They’d stopped at her living space an hour ago so that she could slip into her office and collect the two recent datapads she’d been making notes in. Rain and Shadow had been at home. The large black cat loosely supervised over all, while the thin slip of a girl laid on her stomach among the oak tree roots and quietly made some craft out of string. There was a new adolescent sleeping off his exhaustion on one of the sofas, blue-tanned and not necessarily human, but he was alright physically from what she could tell. Kaytren trusted that she’d meet him awake soon enough to hear where he was from or if he’d been knighted yet. For right now though, she was busy glaring at words in relative privacy.

“I don’t understand the problem. But I don’t like this one either.”

A holo-page glowed translucently in the air just in front of them both, displaying a short manifesto of tenets by a Miralukan Council Member centuries ago. The gently flickering lines of text were already filling up with two sets of their footnotes and annotations. Kaytren frowned at it and resisted the urge to switch it off

“Some of them are so close, but it's arrogant… some are just less good than they could be. Some are worse. I haven’t found the texts from a single council yet where I can say ‘Yes, I’d put my life and reputation on the line for every point they defended in this. Go live by everything this tells you to do.”
I will not be made useless. I won't be idle with despair. I will gather myself around my faith, for it's Light the Darkness most fears.
