Blaster bolts flew the air ionizing the particles within it, the familiar scent of ozone was ever present but marred by the smoke filled charred destruction of the city scape. A wretched hive of scum and villainy to be sure, this was where it had all began and where it would all end, but the smugglers and spice traders were not his concern per say. Automatic weapons fire burst out on his position, a troopers chest plate practically exploded to his right as he jumped up in the air several meters, he spun and became parallel with the ground his red blade flying from his hand and whirling through the air as it reached it's target, first cutting through the dual barrels of the automatic mini blaster turret then slicing through the gunners head like a melon, one half falling into his lap as he slumped over in his his seated position molten metal from the barrels dripping onto his lap and lighting his corpse on fire.
Meanwhile the masked Sith landed, his knees absorbing the impact as he dropped to one knee as his lightsaber flew into his hand just in time to deflect a blaster bolt back into the face plate of the soldier who fired it who then collapsed onto the ground. Meanwhile the Sith Lord righted himself and pushed forward, enemy after enemy that dared to get in his way met their end in an unceremonious fashion. Within twenty minutes the area was littered with corpses from both sides, but mostly enemy forces. He turned, his cloak fluttering in the breeze as his red lightsaber hummed in the air.
::Secure the perimeter and kill anyone who tries to stop you.::
He said to the red armored captain who had approached him from the year. The soldier nodded in acknowledgement knowing that Lord Kaini did not have to see his nod, he had been with him long enough and the Sith trusted his orders would be carried out. In a timely fashion. He scanned the region looking for what he knew was here. He looked off into the distance and one building stood out, one building billowing smoke.
::There::
He said mostly to himself as he started walking towards the building at a deliberate pace after he extinguished his blade and slammed the hilt into place against his belt.
::You two with me.::
Two standard troopers acknowledged him with a simple but direct "SIR." He walked trough the magnificent destruction that his troops had brought to this place, to his left he saw a child crying over a man's charred corpse. He continued walking as a blaster shot rang out, he spun on his heel and held his hand out the blaster bolt hitting his glove and bursting into a million sparks. The trooper on his right raised his rifle and Kaini batted the barrel down with his right hand as the child began to levitate off the ground and fly towards them at terrific speed. Kaini held out his hand and caught the child be the shirt and held him there off the ground. The boy's terrified and rage filled teary eyes reflected of the eyes of Kaini's mask so that the child could see himself being held there.
::Brave of you.::
The child grit his teeth and nodded trying to break free of Kaini's grasp.
::You're wasting your energy. I feel your hatred, you want to kill us all but you can't. So sad really. All of this anger and hatred growing in you and there is nothing you can do to avenge him. So you throw it all away in a futile shot seeing what we've done to everyone else, what I've done to everyone else.::
The child trembled in terror as he wrapped his arms around Kaini's hand trying to break his grip, trying to break free.
::I could kill you without even breaking a sweat. Bide your time young one, attack me now and die, you have done nothing else that warrants punishment. Leave us and move on, grow and hold onto your hatred, let it be your driving force. Then when you are a man come and face me if you still want to die.::
Kaini pulled the kid back and threw him to the ground, the hit the ground in a heap and laid there for a moment staring back up at the Sith Lord.
::Stun him.::
A selector switch was flipped on one of the trooper's rifles and a blue bolt impacted the child in the chest and he fell into unconsciousness. Kaini then continued to the building with his escort. After several moments more of brisk walking through the hell scape they had created Kaini paused at the door he lowered his head and placed his hand on the durasteel door, the locking mechanism snapped open with a clank. He closed his eyes sensing what was in the room and stood back as the door opened revealing a pitch black room hidden in darkness. He raised his head as he walked in, his lightsaber once more in his hand, red blade hidden within it's home.
Then there was snap-hiss, but it wasn't the red blade that whirled through the air, it was a blue blade, impaling the trooper to his right and deflecting a blaster bolt back at the other trooper who fell to the floor dead. Kaini grinned beneath his mask, his red blade igniting and clashing with the blue one in a brilliant explosion of power.
::Found you.::
Don't Be Afraid
Re: Don't Be Afraid
"Good."
The young Jedi's lightsaber clashed with that of the sith, parried away into a door frame both of them were showered with sparks, brilliantly dancing through the air in the pitch black room. Jaxon raised a hand and footsteps could be heard scurrying out the door behind him. While he mounted an offensive against the Sith, all of his years of training coming down to this, he had spent every free hour of his time at the temple dueling those he could and training with his master.
The red blade slashed and barely missed his throat burning a piece of his tunic away in a sizzle he flipped back and launched a powerful force push at the Sith Lord. Summoning all of his strength he stood there and raised another hand the lights in the room flickering on illuminating the once dark space.
"Your reign of terror is over my Lord."
The door slammed shut, the lights illuminating the young man's face, his brown eyes were narrow and his composure was that of someone who had been born with a sword in his hand. His black Padawan braid hung from his ear, what was it's meaning anymore? He had overcome so much in the last few years, he had been alone for so long now he scarcely remembered a time when he took direction from anyone else. Of course he had worked with other Jedi, but their numbers throughout the galaxy seemed to be dwindling by the day. He knew what he felt it meant, those who stayed behind at the temple were getting picked off one by one when they went out on missions, including his master.

He still remembered the day when he found the body, lying dead in the streets among the others in a deep alleyway. He remembered the pain and loss he felt as he knelt over the body, so savagely killed. He saw the wound and even the post mortem bruises. For the first time in his life he was enraged, despite all that he had been taught, his emotions overwhelmed him, gone forever was the friendship he had forged with his master, the seven and half years they spent together, the training that she had given him was so valuable. The boy wondered how he could possibly go on. He remembered looking into her lifeless eyes and finding purpose, carrying on where she had left off protecting those who were incapable of protecting themselves yet. So many had been lost that day, so many had fallen in the name of what? He wasn't sure but one thing he realized that day that no one else seemed to understand except for his Master. They were killing Jedi, he wasn't sure who or how but this was a definitive plot to destroy the Jedi and perhaps all the force sensitives in the galaxy and he had to stop it.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
Back in the present he stood in a modified Ataru stance facing the Sith Lord before him, the man he knew had murdered his Master along with all of those younglings in the streets. There was no fear in the Padawan's aura, just raw determination, he was a force to be reckoned with and he knew it.
He lowered his head again as Kaini took a few steps forward and their blades clashed once more, in a violent flurry of attacks the clanging and clashing of the blades echoed through the room. There was a small opening, a trap? No, he took it without hesitation, the tip of his blade making contact, he smelled the burned flesh as it was parried up and away from the Sith's right arm. He watched Kaini react in fury it was just a flesh wound, but it was more a blow than any had landed on him that he knew of.
The fight continued, sweat forming on his brow as they continued their battle.

Re: Don't Be Afraid
As their blades clashed Kaini slowly began with what he came to do. The Padawan was but a young man, inexperienced with an opponent that outclassed him. He was perhaps one of the best of the Jedi Padawans, but the best of the Jedi Padawans posed no more threat to him than a piece of bantha fodder with a lightsaber stuck in it. Slowly he began to mentally work on the younger man, sending waves of doubt in his direction. Their blades continued to clash, the kid was good, much better than he had expected. Then there was a slash followed by a sharp burning pain in his right arm.
He grunted and harnessed his anger and slashed back, pushing forward with all his might against the young Jedi.
::You're strong, but you cripple yourself.::
The Sith Lord pressed on, he was toying with the Jedi at this point, the young man had merely gotten a lucky shot in, he was skilled and strong but he wasn't a match, not yet at least.
::You hate me.::
The fight continued, the dance of ages between Jedi and Sith, blue blade clashed against red, a force push here, a shove there. This was a seemingly choreographed event that seemed to occur when the universe was at a boiling point, forces of nature that were unexplainable brought a Jedi and Sith together and at last the pot boiled over into a spectacle that most would pay to see, except this one was different.
::Use your hate young Jedi. I sensed your pain two years ago, I sensed it as we flew away, your heartbreak was palpable even from orbit. But moreover I sensed your raw and pure hatred, the power it gave you was so great that we turned around. By the time we got there you were gone though...::
Kaini force pushed the young man who flew back to the ground. Kaini then took several steps backward and held up his left hand and extinguished his lightsaber.
::Talk with me young Jedi, I'm not here to kill you. I want to train you, become my apprentice and you will learn to reach your full potential. Bide your time and then one day you can avenge your Master's death and destroy me with the full power of the Dark Side if you so choose. Or you can fight me here and now heroically and then you will join your Master in a hero's death death. I'm sure she's waiting for you.::
He continued holding his hand up as he watched Jaxon scramble to his feet.
::She died heroically of course but the thing about heroes is that their deaths are wasted. She died protecting others, but what happened? They died anyway. What did her death accomplish? Nothing, it left you alone with no master, you were scared and alone for the first time in your life because of her. She abandoned you, left you alone to die at the hands of someone like me. You still have no master and you still wear the braid of a student. Tell me, are you anyone's student or are you your own master now?::
