"…Taking the life of an innocent is always harder even than taking your own, if you're sincere. This is the ultimate test of selflessness—whether you're ready to face unending emotional pain, true agony, to gain the power to create peace and order for billions of total strangers. That is the sacrifice. To be vilified by others, by people you know and care for, and for your personal sacrifice to be totally unknown to those billions you save, to do your duty as a Sith. To do your duty for the good of the galaxy. It's easy to be a clean-cut hero slaying monsters. There's always a little bit of vanity in it. There can be no room for vanity or pride in being despised."- Lumiya
There was an unfamiliar humming, it was a sound that his ears had never processed before it sounded mechanical and entirely artificial. He breathed in through his nose, the air was different too, there was...wet in it why did the air have wet in it? His eyes had not yet opened when he tasted it, he ran his tongue against the roof on his mouth, the metallic taste filled his mouth in an entirely acrid manner, he scrunched his face only to feel someone gently dabbing his mouth and face with a damp cloth. His blue eyes fluttered open to see a masked stranger in a dark metal room, a chill shot down his spine and the six year old let out a yelp as he through himself against the corner of the wall in which the bed he had been on was resting against.
::Fear not young one, I mean you no harm.::
The young boy was filled with terror as he heard the oxymoronic comment from the man behind the mask. Who was he and how did...what?! Where was his mother?!
"I want my Mom! Get my mom Mister!"
Tears of panic filled the youthful blue eyes and they started to roll down his cheeks. The masked man sat down on the edge of the bed and gently raised his gloved hand and brushed away the tears from the boy's cheeks.
::I am sorry to be the one to tell you this, but your Mother is dead. She was killed by a Ji'dai, you might be dead too had I found you, or at the least enslaved by the Ji'dai for the rest of your life.::
The young boy felt a if he had been punched in the chest hard, he remembered a time when he had gotten the wind knocked out of him by a bantha cub a long time ago, the stinging pain that filled him and coursed through every part of his body as he struggled to breathe. The metallic taste was in his mouth then too, it had been blood then. His blue eyes widened in shock, he couldn't say anything for the moment he couldn't do anything except look down and see his shirt, completely caked in dried blood. Was he hurt too? His first animal instinct was no taking stock of his phsyical well being, blood was bad and he must be leaking it somewhere with all this blood. He looked at his blood caked hand and once more tasted the blood on his lips.
::I know young one.::
The man moved his hand to the young boy's back and gently patted him reassuringly.
::You killed the Ji'dai, I don't know how you got the best of him, but when I showed up you had bitten into his throat and were covered in blood next to your mother. You passed out soon after and I scooped you up and took you with me. I sense great power in you young one, you've gotten your vengeance on the man who killed your mother, but I can teach you to be strong enough to make sure the Ji'dai never harm you or anyone around you again. What is your name?::
There was a ringing in his ears that drowned out anything that had been said aloud, he merely was just staring down at his blood soaked hands and shirts trying to comprehend the total destruction of his own universe. His mother who had taken care of him, who had loved him, and he loved her. The bond the two shared was special, he never knew his own father and as a result his mother was that much more special to him, it was them against the universe it always had been.
He felt the hand on his back and finally the tears began to flow freely once more, snot dripping from his nose as he leaned over and through his arms around the dark stranger. He may not have heard what was said with his ears, but somehow he felt it, and still knew what the man had said. Even as the ringing faded and the sound of his own sobbing against the masked man's torso filled his ears. He still found the strength to answer.
"I'm Svo'k. What's a Ji'dai? Who are you?"
The man embraced the mourning boy and once again pat his back gently.
::I am Darth Realm, I am a Sith Lord, it is an honor to meet you young Svo'k.::

Re: The Sacrifice: Part I
Much time had passed for the child as he sat there in his grief listening to the strange masked man explain to him aspects of what had transpired back home, where is mother still was. He wasn't going to ever see her again and his heart was not sure how fully it was willing to accept that fact just yet. It was as if he had been hit by that bantha again, but his brain went into a safe mode of sorts. He had his crying for several minutes, but then he just couldn't think about it anymore, his brain moved quickly to the subject of Ji'dai and Sith and what each was. Darth Realm had explained to him the basics of both but he wasn't sure he really understood.
"So, Ji'dai take kids like me from their Moms and Dads to be slaves?"
The masked man nodded.
::Yes Svo'k and a lot of times they even hurt the Mom's and the Dad's of the kids they are taking. The Ji'dai are very bad Svo'k, they do evil things, I wish I could have stopped them from doing them to you. Do you know what a slave is?::
The tanned young boy hung his head remembering his mother once more, what she had been doing before everything went dark he scrunched his eyes once more trying to stop the tears from coming. He was getting big and he couldn't cry anymore, she wouldn't like it. He swallowed hard, trying to bury his emotions. His mind quickly jumped to the relative safety of the next question that Darth Realm had asked. Did he know what a slave was?! Absolutely he did, how could anyone not know what a slave was?! There were a ton of slaves back home, he even knew some of them. He nodded quickly, his head starting to hurt from all the tears he had held back.
"Yes. My friend Dante is a slave, slave is a person like me or you...only they can't leave or something inside of them makes them blow up."
Svo'k shivered, it was so cold on this ship. Why would anyone ever have it this cold anywhere? Was it still day time? He had been getting ready to have lunch when everything went dark. That's what his mother was doing, preparing lunch for him, like she always did. He had been outside playing and he heard her voice but it wasn't her normal voice, she was yelling, she was scared. He remembered standing up leaving his toy speeder on the ground and hearing a loud noise and then nothing at all.
Svo'k made a fist and punched the bed trying to think of something else again, anything else.
"It's cold in here."
The Sith Lord nodded to him in response to his answer regarding slavery and placed his hand on the boy's shoulder, for the moment ignoring the cold comment.
::Correct again Svo'k. A slave is a person being made to do something against their will. Dante was probably born into it maybe one day we can return and free him, but for now, we have to get you some place safe. There is another boy about your age that I have rescued from the Ji'dai, I think you two will be friends. He's from Naboo, have you heard of Naboo Svo'k?::
Svo'k nodded and for a brief moment forgetting his grief, he seemed almost excited that there was someone else his age that he could be friends with. The man had mentioned wanting to train him as a Sith and that seemed like it would be a good thing. He looked at the man again his eyes taking in everything he saw, he was dressed mostly in black with a shiny but scratched metal mask and his voice sounded kind of cool too. Would he get a cool mask if he trained with him? Would he rescue people from bad places if he was allowed to become a Sith? That seemed like it would definitely be something he would want to do fi he got to do all of that. He could make his mom proud of him by being a Sith and stopping people like the Ji'dai...who.....he couldn't think it, but he knew he'd have to think it....he knew it was real....he could stop Ji'dai from killing innocent people like his mom. His stomach sank and he closed his eyes and hung his head once more feeling the full depth of his anguish again.
"Naboo? I know it's really far away. What's his name and where are we going...?.....and....you said, Mister Darth, that you would maybe train me to be like you? I....I think I want that. I want to be able to stop Ji'dai from hurting people and stealing kids like me. I want to be a Sith if....if....I can be."
Svo'k raise his head and looked into the mask of the Sith Lord before him. Resolve filled the young Boy's eyes clashing with the red stains of grief around them. He wiped his nose on his sleeve and snorted trying to be strong, trying to be tough.
The Sith Lord watched and smiled beneath his mask. It was all coming to fruition, he had two students now, both of them unbelievingly strong in the force. He stood up and offered Svo'k his hand to help him to his feet.
::We are going to my home on Korriban, it's safe there Ji'dai don't go there at all. It's not unlike Tattooine, although there is only one sun and it doesn't get quite as a hot, but it's still much warmer than this ship. His name is Anakin Talon and I will train you both. Be warned though Svo'k, being a Sith is a difficult path, you will feel pain at times, but it's necessary to make you stronger. If you think you can handle that, then I will train you. Think about it for a little bit, you need to get cleaned up and changed.::
Realm pulled the young boy to his feet.
::There is a refresher down the hall there. I set out some fresh clothes in your size. You should take a shower and get some of that blood off of you.::
Svo'k found his footing and nodded. Looking down the hall where the Sith man pointed. He wasn't used to showers, he took mostly baths at home but he was big now he had to at least try it.
"Thank you....I can't wait to meet him."
Darth Realm watched Svo'k walk down the hall and then he disappeared into the cockpit.
As Svo'k approached the refresher door it opened with a hiss, he walked into to see black clothes neatly laid out for him, they looked like robes, there was a shirt that wasn't too different from the one he was wearing. There were also boots! His shoes were worn and they had certainly gotten their use, he had always wanted a pair of boots like this but they were expensive and he was growing so fast that they'd be getting new ones constantly. He was told he'd have to wait until he was older, but now he had a pair....he felt guilty for being happy about having them though. He looked at the shower, there wasn't even a tub, it was just a stand up shower like adults used. He took a deep breath in and turned to look at the door, finding the lock he quickly made sure the door was locked and then turned back to the shower. He could do this he thought to himself as he found the knob for the shower and turned it on about halfway. He knew he had to wait a minute for it to get warm so he sat down on the floor and spent a few minutes taking his shoes off, the sand and dirt falling a bit all over the floor. He'd need to clean that he thought. He stood up and approached the shower and cautiously stock his hand in.
"BRR!"
He slowly turned the knob a bit further to the left and stepped away from the shower again. Now he had to deal with his shirt, he spent a decent amount of effort sliding it up over his head, the front of it stock to his chest from the dried blood and peeled away slowly with a bit of pain as the dried blood broke away from his skin. He set the shirt down on the floor and approached the shower again, once more sticking his hand under the water. It was a lot warmer now, but not hot. He nodded that it was the appropriate temperature and finished disrobing before carefully getting in.
The water fell down on him and he had to admit that he started to understand why adults liked this, it was better than a bath, more refreshing. He looked down and watched the blood mix with the water and go down at the drain. He stood there for several minutes under the water, the tears could come now freely, no one was here watching him, no one had to know he wasn't strong. He propped his head against the wall of the shower and sobbed for what seemed like an eternity. He was never going to see her again, he was never going to be hugged by her again, he was never going eat one of her delicious meals again, and he was never going to fall asleep in her arms again as she read to him. It hurt so much, he felt like he couldn't breathe.
After several minutes he resigned himself to the fact that he had to wash himself off and move on, he had to be tough. He finished showering, got out and dried himself off the best he could, his long dark brown hair getting messed up as he dried it off with the towel. He then walked over to the clothes and started to get dressed, pants were always the easiest, but shirts were stupid. After he got the black pants on he went to work with the tunic which wasn't that bad he guessed, there was a button, oh how he hated buttons, but he had learned a neat trick recently, he pulled his hand away from the button and then imagined it doing what he wanted it to do and without even touching it, the button did exactly that. He grinned claiming victory over the button and tucked his shirt into his pants, but not his underwear because that would be sloppy and he'd get made fun of for it...again. Couldn't let his knew friend think he was a nerf herder after all. Then there were the boots, he sat down on the floor and pulled them on. There were straps around the lower legs that he could tighten so he did, it was easier than he thought. He stood up and put the robe on over his tunic, it was long black and barely touched the floor behind him, which he thought made sense, but it looked weird. People back home didn't wear stuff like this. He looked down at the belt that he had tightened and there were clips on it, he wondered what they were for.
Svo'k took a small breath and looked at himself in the mirror. He looked cool, he thought, he looked big and tough now and no one was going to try to hurt him again. He fixed his hair the best he could with his hands and straightened up the refresher a bit and opened the door and headed back out to find the Sith who had saved him once more...

Re: The Sacrifice: Part I
The concept of day and night in space on a ship is an arbitrary one. It exists only because sentient beings need it to exist, not because it actually does exist. That being said it was not a short trip from Tattooine to Korriban, it had been what had felt like at least a day or two to the young child. During the flight he got to know Darth Realm a bit better, as best as he could and he had even begun his training. To the average onlooker it was mostly remedial stuff with telekinesis, but he had been given a training saber on his first day and had spent hours drilling with it under the close watch of the Dark Lord. He was a strict teacher, not without compassion or knowledge that his student was still a young child, but the blade is the life of a Sith young or not and he would graduate to a real lightsaber in extremely short order and the Dark Lord had to be sure that his young student would not immediately dismember himself or worse, then all the work and planning would be for nothing. Accidentally was no way for a young Sith to die and Sith or not, the death of someone so young in such a manner would be a difficult thing to deal with. If Svo'k was to die, it should be much later after given the chance to succeed and failing miserably, not as a wet behind the ears student who looked down the emitter of his new weapon the second it was handed to him.
Svo'k stood there going through basic motions the red training blade humming and whooshing through the air as he moved it quickly in a carefully articulated pattern designed to hone his ability to wield a weapon. He started to feel something flowing through him, much like how he was able to button his tunic the other day, the extra ability helped him where his fine motor skills had not been fully developed yet. A light appeared at the edge of his vision and he moved his blade there, then one down low and he followed, soon the pattern changed and randomized and he wasn't sure exactly how but he started to see where it was going to before it happened and he got faster and faster. He felt the ship lurch and the program ended Lord Realm stood up from his seated position and approached the young boy. Who extinguished his training saber and dropped to a knee as he had been told to in that situation. It was awkward kneeling on one knee at his age, he felt unstable the first couple of times he did it but soon, he learned to use the force to compensate just like had done with his saber. He wasn't sure what he thought yet, he was struggling to understand everything that had been thrown at him in the last few days, but he knew that this dark man had saved his life and he was going to his best to make him happy.
::Good work, you have much to learn but this is an excellent start Svo'k. We're here and we'll be landing soon, come sit down and rest, there will be time for more training once you get settled in.::
The young initiate stood up and struggled briefly while clipping his training saber to his belt, but once he did he moved quickly and sat down next to his new Master.
"Thank you Master."
As he was sitting down he reached for the seatbelt and as he was about to fasten it a gloved hand pulled it from his hand and set it down next to him, Svo'k saw his own reflection in the faceplate and swallowed hard wondering what he had done wrong.
::Command the force to keep you in your seat, just like you did with your tunic button and just like you have done in your lightsaber training. As a Sith you will not always have the luxury of taking the time to fasten your seatbelt, you must control the situation Svo'k. Understand?::
Svo'k nodded, but that didn't mean he was any less scared. This was the first time he had flown in space before and the ship moving was a different situation than he was used to already, but now it was going to be bumpy...
"Yes Master."
The ship lurched violently and rolled slightly to the left and Svo'k felt himself thrown sideways he put his hands out to break his fall and caught himself. Quickly he tried to right himself in his seat, concentrating on sitting as the ship quickly rolled to the right and pitched up slightly. Again he felt himself thrown the opposite direction but he was able to better react and this time stopped just shy of his outstretched hands actually touching anything. He righted himself quickly, he wanted to make Realm proud, but he didn't know what he was doing just yet. In an instant the ship dropped straight down, he felt himself lift out of the seat and instinctually he grabbed for something but he was already airborne. The craft stopped and he felt himself fall, he pushed down and landed with a light thud back in the seat just as the craft moved to slower descent before finally touching down. His heart was beating out of his chest and he was a bit scared, he looked to his master for approval.
::Not terrible, but we'll work on it, this is still new and it will be for a little while.::
Svo'k nodded quietly feeling a bit like he had failed but also feeling a bit of pride from the reassuring comment from his master. They both stood up and there was a hiss as the landing ramp lowered, Lord realm raised his hood and Svo'k followed in kind. He felt the warm air from the unfamiliar planet hit his skin and that much was nice, but there was a sinking feeling about this planet. Something about it just felt scary and he could feel it in every fiber of his being, there was a sense of emptiness there but his young mind could not articulate exactly what it was that he was feeling. Realm started down the ladder and Svo'k followed slightly behind and just to the left of the much taller man. The wind cut deep, sand stung his skin but he was used to it, it was like back home so it only took him by the slightest bit of surprise as he had just imagined it might be different and it was but it wasn't at the same time.
As their boots touched the sand covered land Svo'k looked to his Master who slowly made his way to moderately sized shelter built into the rocks on his right. As they approached the door opened and Svo'k heard what he now understood was a lightsaber ingnite, but it sounded a bit different than his own training saber. Relam raised his hand and just as quickly as the lightsaber sprang to life he heard it fall silent once more. He leaned in closer to his master and looked into the home to see a young boy with sun bleached hair dressed identically to him immediately take a knee.
"Master, you're back. I have been training like you said. I got...uhhh.....three droids."
::Good Anakin, good. Rise and meet your new roommate. Anakin is Svo'k, the Ji'dai killed his Mother so you will need to help him learn what you've learned so he can defend himself.::
The other young boy's face contorted in anger as he heard what the Ji'dai had done to Svo'k and his mother. He approached Svo'k and waved.
"I hate them. Sorry they did that. Come on....if it's okay Master...I can show him where we sleep."
::Yes, get settled dinner is in three hours. Take the rest of the day to rest and get to know each other. The real training for you Svo'k begins tomorrow. Anakin, make sure he is prepared.::
Anakin bowed to Lord Realm and Svo'k followed suit.
"I will, this way Svo'k!"
Svo'k hadn't had the time to react to anything that had been said but he had been able to awkwardly wave to the other young Sith as Realm reminded him once more that his mother was dead. He sighed and lowered his head but listened to Anakin reaffirm the hatred of the Ji'dai and he looked back up at him and he ran off with the other young Sith student as he led the way into their shared room...
