Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
Dawn had broken on a new day and the sun was still an infant in the morning sky, it's beautiful glow turning the clouds orange with warmth and bringing a sense of rejuvenation to all that inhabited the city planet. The sun hit the spires of the Jedi temple lighting the hall of Knighthood within one of the spires and bringing in a new day in the Chambers of The High Council.
This was a day for chaos, a day for destruction. Adrian Lynd, came running towards the temple in a dead sprint, he had splashed water on his face to make it look as if he was sweating profusely. He came closer to the temple, 100 meters and still sprinting, his heart racing but his mind sound. Fifty meters, he was almost in rage, he threw a look of panic on his face as he neared the temple twenty meters and he stopped and grabbed a gentleman walking in front of the temple.
You have to help me Sir! They're after me! Off in the distance a timed blaster fires right past Adrian's head as he pulls the man to ground to dodge the "attacker's" blaster bolt.
Please sir, THE SITH, they are after me! Save me!
The Man grabbed Adrian by the arm and lifted him up and started running towards the temple with him, once on temple grounds Adrian stopped causing the man to fall slightly. The sixteen year old takes a lightsaber hilt presses it against the man's throat and ignites the blue blade.
The Jedi killed you my friend, I thank you for you 'assistance...'
Adrian let the lightsaber fall with the man, he was armed with his own weapons anyway and the murder weapon was clearly a Jedi hilt.
He wore blue jeans and black leather jacket, he was not a Sith in appearance not today. Today he would infiltrate the Jedi temple and take two hostages with him to Korriban to meet up with his master.
What has the sun brought with it today?

Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
*The newly constructed Jedi temple brought many new eyes upon the city, for in another section outside the temple stood a hooded figure in a shadowed alley, a gauntleted wrist held in before him. From the gauntlet rose a holo projection of the latest news.*
::... and the question everyone has been asking is 'when will the Jedi finish their long awaited return?' Recent reports suggest that the lengthy migration has started, but there is no speculation on when the old Guardians of the Republic will finally settle in there former place. And what problems will the Jedi bring with them. By all historic accounts, the Jedi are known for having a large portfolio of enemies. Will their return bring more harm to the Capitol City? And what effect will the Jedi have on local politics? A recent poll tells us-::
*The holoprojection collapsed in on itself as Darth Krysis looked up toward the temple. His expression was unreadable under the heavy battle mask, but it was clear that the warrior was studying the new construction.*
Will the Jedi bring you harm? Yes. You harbor them. You reap what you sow.
*With that, the Sith warrior turned from the temple and headed back into the alleyway. It was a good sidetrip, but he had work to do elsewhere in the city. Information to find. And there was one place in particular that was the greatest source of information in the galaxy. If it still stood intact....*

Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
It was often Derry's habit to wake up early. It wasn't always his habit to wake up quite this early, but the seventeen year old Padawan made a point of routinely varying his sleep-schedule. Sudden assignments weren't an everyday occurrence, but they were part of life for the young linguist and diplomat. Derry never knew when he might be called to pack up and head offworld, or even just to the senate building at some strange hour. Practicing flexibility about his internal clock was another way of honing himself as far as Derry was concerned. It was also rare enough for both Derry and Arty to be consistently at the Temple at the same time, that the diplomat's irregular schedules didn't usually affect his roommate that much.
Consequently, the Lorrdian teen had gone to bed a couple hours earlier than normal and gotten himself up this morning at 0300. He'd grabbed clothes, padded past his sleeping roommate's bed and left the room, gone to hit the showers, and grabbed something to eat. By 0400, Derry had returned to his room and chucked a pillow at Arty's head because he could.
"C'mon. Let's go for a run."
By the time dawn was breaking, the pair of teenage boys were outside in the Temple Precinct, not quite racing, but never quite yielding to each other. Derry wore gray exercise clothes instead of something especially Jedi-ish, but he had his lightsaber hilt on him like always. The long Padawan braid in his eye catching red hair was hardly subtle either.
The older of the two Jedi students hadn't felt any shifts in the Force before the first shot and scream rang out. But whether it was a coincidence or not, Derry and Arty weren't far from the Temple public entrance when the cry happened. Flashing a concerned green-eyed glance towards Arty, Derry didn't spend any breath on saying anything, but knew they were on the same page. By the time the two Padawans had sped around the last corner towards the scene, Derry saw a teenage boy in jeans and a leather jacket, standing next to a fallen man who was obviously dead. The nearest half-dozen troopers who'd been stationed near the Temple's public entrance were also making their way to the scene from the opposite direction. Unlike Derry and Arty, the Temple security personnel on duty would have actually seen the murder of the man on Temple grounds.
Derry knew that, whatever happened (and the sight of one teenager and a man murdered by a lightsaber didn't look good at a glance), that there'd be more backup before long, but he didn't know anything about who was watch duty that morning. For the first few heartbeats after they'd turned the corner and come close enough to slow down, Derry swept his gaze across everything to decipher whatever had just happened.

Arty heard the screams too and saw the young man standing before a fallen body. What had happened here? The clones clearly knew and Arty had not really sensed a spike in force energy so…what was going on? The sixteen year old shot a quick glace to his slightly older friend and sprinted towards the scene as fast as his legs would carry him. There was back up in the clones if this got bad and Arty knew his first priority was to the safety of everyone around and possibly the teenager standing over the body, possibly.
The Padawan thought for a few brief moments about the situation as he approached the scene. There was something wrong with this, he had heard the blaster shot but the young man standing over the body appeared to be totally un-phased. In fact he appeared calm, cool and collected. Especially calm for someone who just witnessed a murder.
As the two Padawan’s got closer the young man turned his head just enough, for Arty to catch a glimpse of his eyes. They were in fact quite red, which meant only one thing for a human.
Without a second wasted Arty’s matte black lightsaber hilt was already in his hand. Two hundred feet to go before they were on the young man Arty turned to his head to Derry quickly and uttered a single word.
“Sith…”
Arty unlike his slightly older friend chose to work out in his black Jedi robes minus his cloak. It was his belief that training in robes offered the most benefit as that was what he would be wearing the majority of the time he would be in combat. Today he also had the advantage of wearing his utility belt which contained the knife his master had bought for him so long ago on Tattooine, perhaps it would come in handy today…

Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
Clones and Ji’dai, this was not going according to plan. What were they doing out this early in the morning? Osik, absolute kriffing osik! The clones were much closer to him at the moment but posed the least threat, it was the Jedi that caused him the most concern. His mission was not going to succeed not now, not today. The young Sith had to act fast, immobilizing the clones was his first priority, they were far closer and easier to dispatch of.
Adrian quickly raised his left hand and let out a mighty force push on the squad of clones that was nearly on him. He saw the hilt of the taller Padawan’s lightsaber fly into his hand, Adrian quickly spun around as his coat tails flew up into the air as two lightsaber hilts flew into his hands; red blades escaping from their prison’s as soon as his fingers hit the ignition switches. Now was not a time to fight, now was a time to intimidate, escape and head back to the drawing board. Escape time, the morning shuttle bus would be pulling up in front of the temple any minute now.
Adrian began backing up slowly but ready to face the Jedi that quickly approached him.

Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
The six armored troopers were thrown back with a good deal of telekinetic Force. Two smashed into walls, while the other four were propelled backwards for over twenty feet until gravity eventually caused them to hit the ground. The four skid for a second, their armor making a harsh grating racket on the pavement, and each scraped themselves to a stop. The two who'd been thrown into walls were winded from the impact and pressure, but none of the men were fatally wounded. Being thrown was something they'd practiced often in sessions with Master Barlo and other Jedi instructors, and there were ways to minimize injury from a fall. The armor helped. Only one of the men had lost his rifle in the impact, and found himself switching to his sidearm. As the others gathered themselves one by one, with relative quickness, the soldier brethren braced themselves and targeted weapons on the Darksided young murderer, but did not open fire.
The palm of Derry's hand had been itching and tingling to grasp the hammered texture of his own lightsaber hilt, although the redheaded youth had chosen to put aside that impulse until he saw the clones being thrown and Adrian's twin lightsabers flying into his hands and igniting. His own blade remained unactivated while the seventeen year old frowned and thought his way through possible outcomes of the next few seconds. He didn't have access to the troopers' comm channels right now, but it was a guarantee that other backup would be being called; other Jedi backup if at all possible. If he and Arty occupied the stranger here, then there was a good chance he could be taken into custody. That would be best... Although there was still a significant amount of ground between the two Padawans and the young Sith.
"Killing that man, on our doorstep..." Derry swallowed and spoke aloud in calm Basic, letting sadness color his tone but not dominate it while he stepped closer. His attention was focused on Adrian and the situation, but the Lorrdian turned his vibrant green eyes down towards the dead man, calling as much attention to the fallen stranger as he could. "You don't look happy to see us... But what else could you have wanted to get from that?"

Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
Arty slowed to a walk as he and Derry approached the Sith. Arty shot a glance over to the clones and turned back to the Sith. This Sith could kill the clones with relative ease, that was quite clear and Arty was not about to let that happen. The sixteen year old Padawan looked to his roommate and best friend before turning his head once more to the clones.
Fall back and inform the council immediately, that’s an order. We’ll handle this Sith…
Arty flipped the ignition on his lightsaber and the beautiful bright yellow blade shot out from it’s matte black housing. The Padawan’s eyes locked onto the eyes of the Sith. His worry for the clones safety then shifted to that of Derry, Derry was a diplomat and Arty wasn’t sure exactly how much combat experience his older friend had and he wasn’t sure of his ability either, to his knowledge this was not Derry’s forte.
Yeah I'm going to have to agree with my friend here, it doesn't seem like you thought this one through. Why not surrender now, before the entire order comes out here to get you? Your situation is in fact, quite hopeless at this point.
The Padawan stood very still and not wanting to instigate the situation too much. The last thing he wanted to have to deal with was losing his best friend or getting him hurt. Arty fought off every single urge that came to him, the young Jedi wanted to attack, this Sith was a killer and he needed to be taught a lessen, but Arty refrained. The Padawan looked down at the dead man, there was clearly nothing that could be done.
Sith are treacherous but they aren't stupid Derry, except maybe this one...

"I like diplomats, it's so much fun to watch them try their skills on a Sith. Really...Derry is it? Derry, you're pretty kriffing stupid if you think you have any chance of reasoning with me."
A dark smile appeared on Adrian's face as he took one step further back as the bus pulled up. The young Sith faked forward taking a Juyo stance.
"If you must know, you two idiots weren't supposed to be out here this early in the morning and neither were those osik head clones. You were right to send them away, but typically stupid of a Guardian at the same time. You're outmatched Ji'dai, very outmatched indeed.
Adrian waited two seconds until he knew the bus was about to start moving.
"Gentlemen as much as I'd like to stay and chat, I have a bus to catch..."
With that Adrian summoned the force to assist him in a backflip that landed him squarely ontop of the double wide bus that was just a mere second away from taking off and pulling away from the Ji'dai. The Sith sneered down at the two incompetent Padawan's. Sixteen and he was nearly a Lord, they couldn't be much different in age and they were lightyears behind him in everything from strength to intelligence. The Sith grinned arrogantly at the two as the bus started to move up and away.

Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
As far as Arty's orders for the troopers went, Derry was confident that the security center and Council had already been informed about the situation here. He'd spent a lot of time studying in the recon headquarters back on Bakura while he was growing up, and he just knew how these things worked. Communications channels were open and people worked together. It's what was supposed to happen. Even so, Derry understood Arty's logic behind sending the troopers away. It was safer that way.
What the redheaded seventeen year old didn't appreciate as much, was everything that came out of Arty's mouth after that. He didn't say anything or stop watching Adrian, but the Diplomat-Padawan had tightened his jaw slightly.
"Ktah Drâhsqystorli..."
The brief phrase that came from Derry's mouth was uttered in Cheunh; within the rhapsodic patterns of which, it was possible to say almost anything with grace and artfulness. If anyone fluent in the language somehow had been close enough to hear the seventeen year old's expressive undertone, he or she would have caught the distinct sentiment of "stupid Guardians."
He hardly had time for that, though. Adrian was going to give them more than enough trouble as it was. Internal fighting wouldn't do them any good, especially with the way the young Sith was still staring at them with that look of arrogant glee. Allowing himself a split second of time to think about it, Derry swallowed and opted to just trust right now. There wasn't time for more than that here anyway, and to give Arty less than that was unlikely to help. They were Jedi. They were well trained. Arty was like his brother, different personality or not. The decisions were all instinctual rather than consciously considered, so none of the thought had taken more than his allotted instant of time. But Derry trusted his instincts; they were trained just for this.
Adrian's fake forwards resulted in the usual snap-hiss as Derry's pristine white lightsaber blade sprang to life from the hammered bronze-colored hilt in his hand, the Lorrdian shifting agilely into a Form VI defensive stance (dominant foot forwards, both hands on on his lightsaber hilt, but ready to shift it to a single-handed grip at any moment, lightsaber blade angled downwards and away from him, ready to sweep up or outwards as needed). As for his face, he relaxed his features and kept his expression cool and unflustered, green eyes attentively meeting Adrian's while he and Arty's intelligence was found lacking.
Adrian's words themselves rolled off of Derry's back like oil on water. He listened to anything the Darksider said, but the insults had little effect. The freckled Lorrdian young man wasn't worried about the Darksider's effects on himself, but he wasn't absolutely sure how coolly hot-headed Arty would be able to take manipulation attempts. Then began Adrian's Force-enhanced backflip, onto the leaving shuttle bus.
"Oi!"
Because of their Darksided peer's grinning stare at them, Derry resisted the tempting urge to give Arty a very chiding shove when he had the chance. Instead, the older of the two Padawans took off, trusting that Arty was more than capable of doing the same.
Kicking off from his left heel even while Adrian was still flipping, Derry drew on muscle to fuel his bound forwards and trusted practice-sharpened reflexes to keep his course true once he set it, applying a quick Force "shove" of pressure against the pavement under him to amplify the momentum that initially threw him into such a whirlwind motion.
The instant Derry reached the curb, he threw all his momentum into using the small edge as a launchpad to shoot himself almost straight upwards. The redhead drew on his quick push-maneuver again, sharper this time. The result was a very high, very efficient, Jump that was firmly augmented by the Force, but not as exclusively fueled by it as an observer might assume.
Things were happening very fast. In the instant of being airborne and vertically higher than the shuttle bus, Derry thrust out his left hand and sharply jerked an equally quick Pull on the roof of the bus itself, as if he was suddenly trying to raise the bus up and over several yards to his level. Everyday physics dictated that when a force was pulling two objects together, and one of those objects was a teenage youth in midair, while the other object was a massive several-ton public transit bus hovering on stable anti-grav engines, it wasn't the bus that was going to move.
And that was the whole idea.
The Pull against the bus rapidly propelled Derry forwards until he was right where he needed to be, at which point the young Sentinel instantly abandoned his Pull and used the slightest bit of Push to ease the shock of his landing. The freckled Lorrdian dropped onto the roof of the shuttle bus a few feet from Adrian, in nearly the same ready saber stance as his previous one, and shot the Darksided teenager an interested look. Derry had no doubt that the communications headquarters would be tracking down the shuttle bus number and comming them to stop; but whether that would happen before they got up to join traffic, Derry didn't know.
"Who said you were done that easy? You got a name?"

Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
Arty had snapped into a Djem So stance the second the young Sith flinched forward. The air was calm this morning, still and cool a stark contrast to the storm that was brewing right here and right now. Adrian's words were caustic and while they bounced off Derry some of them hit slightly off their mark with Arty but still burrowed themselves into his psyche, if only slightly. First and foremost Derry was not a fool, Derry was one of the most intelligent people Arty had ever met and the young Sith's arrogance annoyed Arty greatly.
"Stay calm Arty, he's trying to get to you." The Guardian spoke to himself in his mind, trying to calm himself down and find his center. The Sith was nothing but an arrogant murdering fool and he must pay for his crimes and his insults. "NO!" Not his insults, his insults meant nothing, Arty was a Jedi and words did not effect him in such ways...at least they shouldn't.
With his best friend and brother standing next to him, the young Jedi felt an ever so slight bit of annoyance directed at him. He had done it again hadn't he? He had spoken without thinking and possibly made a bad situation worse. "STUPID STUPID!" The sixteen year old's face tightened and his brow lowered as his eyes narrowed on the murderer before him. "Find your center Arty, this kid has got to be taught a lesson." Good, his thoughts were returning to normal and he was finally leveling off enough to face the Sith with confidence.
It was then, that Adrian performed his acrobatic feat that would likely make a normal person do a double take, Arty however was merely annoyed at the arrogant presumption that the Sith had implied by thinking he could escape so easily. The Sith was facing two Jedi, his acrobatic prowess would have worked quite well on clones but not on two Jedi.
Derry had barely moved before Arty followed his older friend with the exact same idea and purpose in mind.
Oh I don't kriffing think so Sith...
...were the words that escaped Arty's lips as he started his force assisted leap. He came down not a half a second later, standing in a Djem So stance next to Derry. There was a difference in the way Arty stood and the way Derry stood before the young Sith, Derry was Niman in almost every way imaginable, the young Jedi looked nothing short of perfectly balanced with no apparent weaknesses or strengths, perhaps his very nature was a strength in this battle. Arty however, looked, in a word; dangerous, yet somehow level. It was clear the young Jedi was full of suppressed emotions yet somehow he was able to look confident, it was the nature of a Guardian to be rash and at times hot headed, Guardians were in fact the lightside equivalent of a Sith. It was this fact that made battles between Jedi Guardians and Sith to be some of the most violent encounters in the galaxy.
There was clearly a storm brewing inside of Arty, and someone who knew him as well as Derry could catch a slight glimpse of it through the force. The young man was composed, but he was a Padawan and not yet a Knight, he had much to learn about self control, but he was close to Knight level in his abilities, it was really the mental areas that he needed to work on.
Standing next to Derry Arty was biting his tongue, he had so much to say to the Sith, oh he had so much to say to the arrogant little pr** but he was not about to make the same mistake twice, not here, not now, and not with so much at stake. Arty only leveled his gaze on the young Sith's eyes and prepared himself for the inevitable as he waited for the Sith to reply to his older friend's question.
It was the silence in the air that bothered Arty, the bus of course was making some rather interesting noises as were all the other speeders in the area, but the only things Arty could hear were; The beating of his own heart, the humming of four lightsaber blades and the sound of his roommates voice. Now was the time to remain focueds and to not lose himself in his emotions, now was the time to be a Jedi and to bring a Sith to justice.

Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
Adrian was about to turn away as he witnessed the two Jedi leap forward with clear intent of boarding the bus. The Sith shook his head in arrogant disgust and one might even sense a bit pity for the poor fools who had just committed themselves to a suicide mission. The Jedi landed on the roof of the bus, being double wide it offered a bit more room for a fight than one might think. Adrian stared at the two Jedi menacingly, he was not thrilled that he was going to risk straining himself fighting against these two fools, in fact he was rather annoyed.
Adrian took two steps back to place some distance between himself and the two Jedi as he began sizing them up. The taller younger one was a swarm of emotion, perhaps something that could come in handy later. The young Sith knew that exploiting this weakness would not be difficult if he had some bonding time with the young Jedi. There was something about Arty that Adrian felt, that troubled him, it was the apparent lack of concern for himself. He sensed arrogance mixed with self doubt, but he also sensed a pure sense of duty that could prove dangerous. It appeared that the young jedi didn't care what happened to himself as long as he did what was right. This could be very dangerous indeed, separating him from his older friend and exploiting his inner fears would need to be a top priority.
Then there was the shorter red haired and freckled Jedi. Adrian did not feel remotely threatened by the young man's aura or presence in the force. He did however sense a great deal of focus in Derry, it was clear that the diplomat was ready for some aggressive diplomacy.
"Indeed I do have a name Derry, indeed I do. You however are not worthy of letting my name pass through your lips. You are but a weak Jedi who knows nothing of the true power of the force.
I didn't know Jedi condoned suicide my friends? Pity really, I haven't even stretched my hammys yet, I wouldn't want to strain a muscle whilst destroying you both. I have a date tonight and I don't think limping is going to make a good first impression, ahh well. Maybe I'll get pity out of it?"
Adrian shrugged rather nonchalantly as the bus kept moving up and forward. Striking first was never ideal, but Adrian was facing Padawans, not Knights. They could be dangerous yes, but he was facing a Guardian and a diplomat. The difference between the two could not have been more significant if one had ten arms and the other had two. Driving a wedge between them would have to be the strategy here. United, the two Jedi could pose a threat, divided he could conquer them without even breaking a sweat.
Adrian moved forward in his modified Juyo stance lashed out at both Jedi with a high assault on Arty and a mid level swing at Derry. Adrian came to the conclusion that a high attack on Djem So fighter would lead the defender to force Adrian's blade down and try to re-direct the energy of this movement into an assault on Adrian. However, Adrian was prepared for this if it were to happen.
The attack on Derry didn't involve nearly as much thought, Derry was a diplomat and probably a decently skilled duelist, but he was not a guardian, a fact that Adrian knew. The young Sith all but dismissed the older Jedi Padawan as a major threat, but did not totally discount him. In short the attack was meant to keep Derry's blade occupied while Adrian shoved his blade into Arty's chest if things went according to plan...

Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
Calm.
Derry stopped talking. He knew he was being underestimated for the moment; it suited him fine. Arty was the Guardian—given all the factors of his friend's taller stature, personality, and the simple facts of his life and training itself, it seemed obvious (and understandable) that it was Arty with his energy and intensity who going to be the source of the Sith youth's attention for the time being. The logic made sense.
In the meantime, Derry was hardly one to waste the extra opportunity he was being afforded to develop a plan here. When Adrian came at the pair of Padawans simultaneously, seeming to direct the full strength of his attention on his high strike towards Arty, he swept a well executed mid-level swing towards Derry as well. It was neatly and very quickly done, but the fact still remained that Adrian was trying to stir both of them at once with one blade in each hand, while they were also all occupied with keeping their footing on the roof of a speeding city transport. The maneuver itself wasn't a convenient one.
While the Sith's swing came towards him, Derry slid up his pristine white lightsaber blade in a smooth, neat, parry that drew on the economy-of-energy that Soresu was so well known for. It was also well done; the redhead defended himself, but it was patently uninteresting in the grand scheme of things. Niman was the Diplomat's Form after all; its strength came in balance and a constant stream of decisions. For right now, Derry had opted to be very boring.
With all of their respective times away from the Temple, Derry hadn't had many chances to see Arty's combat firsthand recently, but the linguist knew Arty's passion for lightsabers and beadwork; he knew Arty's energy, his skill, and the competitiveness that was generally certain to shine through when he trained. If Arty and Adrian got themselves busy with a dancing flurry of powerful blows back and forth at each other, that would be great, in Derry's opinion. So for these crucial beginning seconds, the older of two Padawans hung back and weighed things while they unfolded, parrying whatever came his way, and making it clear in his actions that he'd defer to Arty's initiative in terms of the opening combat. Derry was clearheaded, and he knew that the Force was there.
The Sith's immediate weakness was that he was trying to fight two Jedi united. An obvious method of amending that, would be to split Arty and Derry apart. Dun Möch and taunting distractions and already occurred to Derry. They were the chiefest reason behind why the redhead had very intentionally not given Adrian any fuel to work with regarding Derry's annoyance with Arty from before. Derry had put that entire thought from his mind as quickly as possible, instead making a mental point of being in as much harmony with his friend and brother as he could. He knew that he needed to take it a step further though, actively, and before their Darker counterpart had opportunity to plant seeds he could manipulate later. So Derry reached out.
As far as telepathy went, the freckled Lorrdian's was honestly nothing especially powerful, but he knew Arty. it wasn't hard to single out his friend's mind, especially not as loud as Arty's currently was, and share a few thoughts amid the flurry of it all. They were brothers, he emphasized, and Derry would be relying on Arty. They'd be relying on each other. Derry made it known to his brother in thought and action, that Arty and the Sith's next few seconds would determine what Derry would do.

Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
Silence was golden, Arty's attention was focused on the moment, nowhere else. While his attention was focused on the here and now, his focus was to end the fight quickly before one of the two Jedi was seriously hurt. Arty also knew Derry wel and he could sense what Derry was doing, perfect. Without physically doing it, the Padawan breathed a mental sigh of relief. The absolute last thing he wanted to see happen was Derry being seriously hurt. It wasn't that he underestimated his friend by any stretch of the imagination, but he had never seen him in combat before. It was more of a brotherly concern than anything that made Arty feel a bit over protective of his friend, besides the definition of a Guardian could be described in one word; Protector.
The Sith's attack didn't fool Arty, he could tell from the way the young man moved that he was quite the skilled duelist. So before their blades even made contact Arty knew the purpose of the Sith's attack was to trick him, Arty knew this without thinking. His instincts would take over and cancel out his Djem So reflex to block the blade and parry it downward. Instead Arty would have to rely on his own intuition to parry the Sith's blade upward and to the side. This could accomplish two things; The first being it would force Adrian's arm back and to the side, likely causing his posture to straighten thus throwing him off balance. The second being, it might leave the Sith wide open for a quick and swift kick to the chest. The possible combination of being off balance, speeding through the air on the roof of a speeder and a kick to the chest could mean a very quick end to the fight, and possibly a Sith prisoner instead of a Sith corpse. All of this was the split second decision that was simply instinct for the young Padawan.
Arrty brought his yellow blade up to meet Adrian's red blade in a violent clash, Arty had brought his blade up from a low position so that he could have as much if not more momentum as Adrian did. He was however going to have to outmuscle the Sith, and force his blade to the side to create the opening, given the angle from which he was coming from this was accomplished with a bit of effort. Now, the kick. Quickly, Arty launched a quick half round kick that forced him to balance on one leg while his foot launched forward at Adrian's chest.
Now was a deciding moment, if Arty's kick landed and knocked the Sith down, the fight could be over before it ever really got started. Derry could move in and take disarm or remove the weapon from the Sith's hand, whether or not the Sith would still have his hand was up to Sith. All of this was only going to happen if of course Arty's plan of attack worked well enough.

Well this was interesting, as Derry non-chalantly parried his blade away as he had expected, Adrian became even more confident in himself after correctly analyzing the situation...or so he thought. Adrian was not aware of the close friendship these two Jedi shared, nor was he aware that Derry playing lame duck, was part of the plan. This fight was going to be easy, oh so easy. Adrian almost smiled as his blade made contact with Arty's blade that was about to direct his own blade dow.....up? What the kriff?! Adrian tried to outmuscle the Padawan to no avail as his blade was directed up and away forcing him to straighten his back. Now was not the time to toy with the guardian because, he was clearly more ski....
"AHH"
...lled than Adrian had thought as the sixteen year Jedi padawan's boot smashed into Adrian's chest. The Sith however did not fall back, instead he merely righted himself and took a step back from the situation to analyze it. The Guardian was indeed much stronger than Adrian had realized, not only that he carried himself as a warrior. The diplomat on the other hand fought with the intelligence of a Diplomat, waiting for the right moment like a spider waiting for an insect to fall into it's web. The diplomat clearly knew patience, while the Guardian knew brute force.
Lets try this again, Adrian took a step forward and attacked both Jedi with fury, a high blow at Derry, followed quickly by a low swing at Arty and a plethroa of furious attacks as the Sith pressed forward trying to weaken the pair of Jedi. He knew he was going to win this fight, the Jedi were unworthy of the life's blood they had been given and they were not going to succeed, not here not now. Now as the time for a Sith to win the day and weaken the resolve of the Jedi as whole.

Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
During the whole flurried second or two of Derry's hanging back and observing, Adrian had been kicked and made angrier, blows were exchanged, the Sith had moved back, started again; and then all the entire first spate of blows had accomplished was to reset them all back into their starting places and start it again quicker this time, more or less.
The testing wasn't a loss, but it wasn't a strong gain either. The Lorrdian's mind flew while he parried and redirected the flurry of enraged attacks that the Darksider was throwing at both of them. There were two of them, Arty and Derry, and the pair of Padawans were synching into a rhythm with Derry actively matching pace with Arty, giving the young Guardian room enough to take the initiative where he would, but being there as a stable guard against Arty's left side to fill in any gaps. The other young man was not likely to get far this way with the two Jedi working in tandem, but it couldn't last. Derry hardly expected Adrian to just keep it up and be worn down over time; he didn't even expect Arty to settle into a rhythm for that long, let alone the Darksider. Things would have to change.
The bus remained a serious problem. It wasn't so much that they were rushing through the air at high speeds, which all three youths had adapted to, and sooner or later (hopefully sooner), the authorities would get its number tracked down and it would be stopping regardless--The problem was that they were lightsaber dueling on the roof of a crowded and definitively not-saber proof city transit bus. That had to change before someone abused it. The redhead Niman practitioner frowned against the wind in his eyes, the flashing and buzzing of crimson, yellow, and white energy blades crackling against each other, and the whole situation while he kept knocking Adrian's blades down and to the side, away from his own body.
The Diplomat's Form was nicknamed for a reason; balanced as it was between offensive and defense, the expending of energy and its conservation, trained motions and constantly shifting reflexes, and between the Force and combat of physical weapons. Everything in life was about balancing: holding to deeper truths, being clearheaded enough to not forget strengths or weaknesses in the moment, and being quick and flexible enough to react to things while they came; accepting imperfection in the process, but never just settling. A constant stream of choices that he trained to handle, and then trusted himself to make. No doubting.
The wiry seventeen year old was an open channel to the Force. Derry knew, and was peaceful in the knowledge, that his touch on the Force he served was far from the strongest or the most precise among the Jedi. But it was his, he was its, and it was more than enough. Pulling lightly on the Force to draw it in, he let the energies flood into himself hard, mentally rolling with the physical and emotional momentum of their situation, and feeling the Force bolster his balance and reflexes where he needed them.
The three were all moving back and forth on the bus roof, their footing constantly changing from one burst of attack and defense to the next. As they continued the newest quick steps in the exchange of blows and parries, Derry knocked Adrian's latest swing at him upwards (away from Arty) instead of down, and aimed to force up the Darksider's right arm. He abruptly shifted his lightsaber hold from the firmer two-handed grip to a more versatile one-handed grasp, their blades locking and crackling for an instant before Derry was abruptly dropping his down and forwards, towards Adrian's torso but he knew it was more likely to end up hitting near the darksider's shoulder or inner elbow by the time the coming milliseconds were over. The Lorrdian's left hand had snapped down to his side, his fingers clapping suddenly against his palm in a concise but very firm 'beckoning' motion that heaved a telekinetic jerk at Adrian's feet and lower legs. It was a Niman 'Draw Closer' tactic, where a duelist telekinetically grabbed at his opponent and aimed at pulling them into his blade-path.
From here, a thousand things could happen. But unlike when he'd Force-pulled on the bus itself a few moments ago, now Derry's footing was grounded as well as any of theirs could be atop their speeding platform, and their weights were similar enough that it wasn't going to be Derry who physics ended up moving (not from his Pull anyway). The ideal motion was for Adrian's lower extremities to be jerked forwards and upwards, pulling his upper torso backwards and downwards by default. Even if he avoided Derry's white blade, there was still the young Guardian beside him, with his vibrant gold blade, his own mind and energy and self to put into the fight. One of the last things Derry hoped was for this to end up lethal, or even seriously maim, but the Darksider had already murdered one man in plain sight in front of them and they were in a crowded situation that really couldn't be allowed to get worse.

Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
With the hissing and crackling of all the blades as they clashed, it was clear that this fight could drag on for a long time, in fact Arty was deeply impressed with his friend's ability. Derry was a far better duelist than the young man had realized. Even so, that wasn't something to be thinking about right this very second.
The young man parried most of Adrian's strikes with ease, some of them took a lot more effort than others and Arty had even launched a few counteroffensives, that had pushed Adrian a few steps back. It really was only a matter of time now before the Sith fell or surrendered, he was clearly going to be beaten, that much was certain in Arty's mind. The Jedi Guardian locked blades with Adrian who forced Arty's blade down and to the Guardian's right, impacting a window on the bus, the glass shattering into a thousand pieces and sprinkling the passengers with dangerous shards of glass. If the driver was not aware of their presence before he sure would be now, this had to stop. Arty quickly raised his left hand to release a force push....only to find Adrian had righted his blade before him and had swung directly at Arty's arm about three inches above his wrist Arty of course tried to right his blade and block it but there was no time as hot energy cut through fabric and smell of burnt flesh filled the air as the Padawan was soon parted with his left hand. Arty screamed in pain, loud enough that the bus driver had heard it, and coupled with broken window, that had only happened a fraction of a second before, the bus driver jerked to the left and the bus lurched violently as Arty had fallen to his knees, his lightsaber still in his right hand. The pain was more than enough to break the concentration of even a Jedi Master, let alone a Padawan as bus lurched, Arty found himself being flung off of the bus and headed straight towards plate glass window on a nearby building....this was not going to feel good.
The young Padawan quickly reacted, he had to in order to save his life, he stuck his blade out and it shattered the glass allowing him to fall through the window and land on some poor startled soul's desk which was covered in glass shards, which entered into the Padawan's body at various points, nothing lethal though as the young man rolled off the desk and tried to stand up only to fall to the floor in pure agony. He needed to breath, he needed to regain composure in order to find a way to get back onto the bus, but for now he was stuck here trying to block out the pain....

Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
Bye bye Jedi, were the only thoughts that entered Adrian's mind as the guardian fell off the bus minus his hand. The young Sith smiled as the bus lurched and he felt his legs being pulled up, in an instant he was flat on his back. His right hand smacking the bus and his lightsaber falling away, he was down to one. Red eyes widened as he realized the situation, quickly the young Sith broke a rule. A rule that had been passed down ever since men had been in existence, a rule so sacred that it was considered an instant revocation of one's man card to break said rule. Adrian was a Sith however and rules really didn't apply to him, especially in dealing with a prissy Jedi.
The young Sith quickly launched a kick directed at a soft spot on the Jedi diplomat, this was of course a last resort and even Adrian felt a little bit bad about doing it, but there were often times exceptions in a life or death scenario. Whether or not the kick made contact Adrian quickly inched backwards and tried to right himself as quickly as he could. The bus was moving in a different direction now and banking, not quite banking hard but it was definitely banking. They were now climbing towards that same building that the other Jedi had just fallen through. Even Adrian was growing sick of the bus and if he was being honest with himself, the young Sith was fairly exhausted. Fighting two Jedi on a moving platform, well it was not the easiest thing in the world, especially for as long as the fight had lasted.
Adrian quickly got back on his feet and he took a defensive posture with a reverse grip on his one remaining lightsaber. His breathing had increased at this point as red eyes stared at the diplomat before him.
"I guess I really knocked your crutch out from under you Ji'dai. Surrender and I'll let you live and we shall part ways. You have showed great skill and courage, but you must realize that alone, you are no match for me. Your friend was but not you, now your fate will be the same as his if you continue this."
Normally a tactic like this would be viewed as stalling in an attempt to buy time. Adrian however was not stalling, he honestly felt he could easily finish off the one remaining Jedi before him without exerting himself too much more. What he was doing, was trying to play off of what he thought could be a lack in confidence. Derry had let Arty do a lot of the fighting early on and lead with the attacks, which to Adrian indicated that Derry was not confident in his abilities. This was a perceived weakness that Adrian jumped on to exploit, if he could play off the possible insecurities and get under his opponents skin, he would in fact defeat him without even swinging his blade. Regardless, with one hand now free, Adrian did have a few more tricks up his sleeve...

Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
Arty's injury, the Sith and the Guardian's sudden flurry in their dance, the hand sliced cleanly off, and then Arty falling—All of that happened so quickly and so simultaneously to Derry's own part in the deadly, quick-paced, scene, that the redheaded Padawan was unable to change any of it.
Arty was abruptly just… Not there. He'd fallen and was gone. Even though Derry didn't have a grave reason to suspect his friend was dead (he had more faith in the Guardian Padawan than that), the Lorrdian still had no way to know Arty's current fate.
On the bus rooftop, things were far from over. Derry had pulled Adrian's feet forwards with the Force; a gesture which ended up well-timed considering the rough turbulence of their situation on the speeding air bus. Adrian was on his back, however briefly, and suddenly kicking up at Derry. The Lorrdian's counter-reaction involved sweeping his lightsaber blade quickly downwards, aimed to sweep through Adrian's ankle in a combination of defense and the hopes of disabling the Darksider. However, with the shaking of the bus and the sudden change of incline while the bus banked and climbed higher, both young men were suddenly scrambling to some degree. Within a second or two, Adrian was on his feet again and so was Derry. Green eyes met vibrant crimson ones while the two renewed their defensive stances, and the young diplomat gave the Sith his steady attention.
'I guess I really knocked your crutch out from under you Ji'dai. Surrender and I'll let you live and we shall part ways. You have showed great skill and courage, but you must realize that alone, you are no match for me. Your friend was but not you, now your fate will be the same as his if you continue this.'
Derry's guard was up, but for a second, the Padawan was done with the attacks, done with this whole fight on the bus. Adrian's Dun Möch might have been better suited to pierce an artist whose Gift wasn't language and communication, although the words were chosen well, and still found their way to touch Derry's heart. If anything, though, the effect had potential to be the opposite of what Adrian was hoping—Adrian was more likely to have spurned the other youth onwards with such words, with a wish to prove himself somehow, than he was to push Derry into yielding. For a fraction of a second, the seventeen year old reexamined his own feelings. Was he somehow prideful staying, when Arty had been hurt and fallen? But the factor didn't change the balance of what was happening. He and Adrian (whose name Derry didn't know) were still here.
"No, I can't do that," The freckled Jedi spoke against the wind with remarkable voice and clarity. For Adrian facing away from the front of the bus, words would have been ripped from his mouth by the rushing air. For Derry who was opposite Adrian, the pressing winds resisted letting any sound escape him at all. Although Lorrdians were identical to humans in all visible ways, and so genetically similar that they should have been one and the same species, this was where trained linguists and innate vocal abilities became useful.
Derry tilted his head towards the huge building for the roof they were quickly about to become level with. His own free hand was still at his side, palm itching with energy he was keeping in check.
"He couldn't have either. Come on. Let's get off this. You ready?"

Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
The sixteen year old let out a pain-filled sigh as he put his only remaining hand on the ground and tried to stand up. There was of course a crowd gathering around the teen, some of them trying to convince him to remain seated while an ambulance was called, two others got on either side of the teen and helped him to his feet. The mood of the office was complete and utter shock, it really wasn't every day that a Jedi Padawan flew threw a window and landed on the desk of one's cubicle of course it was a good excuse for work to be left incomplete this day which was always a good thing no matter how one looked at it.
The Jedi shook his head, small pieces of glass flying from his hair, blood running down his face. The young man felt his neck to make sure there was no glass imbedded in any areas that could very easily become lethal, he breathed a quick sigh of relief when there wasn't. Then there was the shard of glass sticking out of the back of the young man's hand.
Lets go for a run, he said....
It was clear at this point that he would have been immensely better off having stayed in bed. The early bird surely did not catch the worm, instead he got his kriffing arm cut off and flew through a plate glass window. This was the absolute last time he would indulge his roommate's insane sleep schedule and deprive himself of a couple more hours that on this fine day would have meant he would still be in one piece.
The selfish rant inside the young man's mind ended before it ever really started as he reached with his left hand....oh right....new plan. The young man brought his right hand to his mouth and bit down on the shard of glass sticking out of the back of his hand, much to the protest of the working moms in the office. With a jerking motion he winced as the glass came loose and he spit it out.
Medics were surrounding him now trying to get him to have a seat and relax for a moment, this was the farthest thing from the young Padawan's mind. His duty was to protect others and he had to get to Derry now!
=Office worker= "You need to sit down kid, those cuts are pretty nasty and your arm could get infected, that was quite a fall."
Sorry, I've got to get....OWW! Arty winced as his back cracked. I've got to get back to the fight, to help my friend, he could...frick, he could get hurt if I'm not there to help him.
=Office Worker 2= *Raises her eyebrow* "He could get hurt?"
YES! Look, I appreciate the concern but I gotta go.
Arty called his lightsaber to his hand and clipped it to his belt as he tried to run....bad idea; walk as fast as he could towards the center of the building, there had to be elevators there someplace, if he could get to the roof he could get back on the bus...the limping really wasn't making him get there any faster though.

Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
"You cannot or you choose not to? There is a difference Jedi. I'm Adrian, since you asked earlier."
Adrian deactivated his lightsaber and clipped it to his belt as a sign of good faith, trusting that the Jedi was not a coward or dark enough to do anything about it. The young Sith was not in any mood to continue fighting, the sweat dripped down his face and he was a bit tired. There was also the matter of getting back to his master to let him know the outcome of todays events, which hadn't been a complete disaster after all. The young man cracked his neck as his red eyes stared into the green ones of the Jedi. Adrian's facial expression was relaxing and showing signs of warming up, insulting this Jedi wasn't going to get him anywhere, perhaps taking a different tone would.
It was then that the bus leveled with the building and Derry motioned towards the roof. Getting off this bus would be nothing less than amazing, however a building rooftop was just as much a confined space as a bus and it wasn't moving so there was the chance of backup arriving for the Jedi and this not ending very well at all. Adrian exhaled rather audibly before nodding in agreement to Derry's wish.
"No tricks Jedi, you first."
There was a certain tone in Adrian's voice that indicated that he was not crazy about the roof idea, but he wasn't being deceptive either. He would likely follow Derry onto the rooftop, but he doubted that it would be a one on one fight for long, that is if Derry wished to continue it. Adrian ran his hand through his hair, flicking some sweat away. Anger stirred in the young Sith, but not frustration or anxiety. He was calm, cool and confident in himself, he simply knew that if this resorted to fighting again he'd need to move quickly before this building became a swarm of Jedi and clones, which if that did happen he had an advantage. He was still wearing street clothes, not Sith robes he could also change his eye color and play innocent, slipping out of the building unnoticed.

Re: The Streets Just Outside the Jedi Temple
